We were enjoying our dinner when my phone suddenly vibrated, interrupting the peaceful atmosphere. I excused myself from the dining table and walked outside to answer the call. My heart fluttered as I saw Chester's name on the screen, but I couldn't bring myself to tell him where I was.
"I just finished my shift. Are you home or in the hospital?" Chester's voice came through the phone.
"Andreas and I are having dinner," I replied, intentionally leaving out the details of our location.
In the background, I could hear a woman's voice calling out to Chester, urging him to join them. "Is that your colleague?" I asked, trying to suppress the twinge of jealousy that tugged at my heart.
"Yes, they wanted me to join them for dinner," he admitted with a hint of embarrassment.
"Why don't you?" I inquired, genuinely curious about his thoughts.
"I was thinking of having dinner with you two," he confessed, a warm smile evident in his words.
