"Who is Zach? Where did you meet him? What is his background?" Alice bombarded Alyssa with persistent questions, her curiosity and concern driving her to seek answers about her daughter's newfound relationship.
"Mom, I'm tired. I don't want to talk about it," Alyssa declared, her weariness evident as she tried to retreat to her room.
However, Alice firmly grabbed Alyssa's arms, her determination unwavering. "What else are you hiding? I don't want any more surprises like the ones your dear sister sprung on us! Did you know she got married abroad? Why did you keep it from us?" Alice interrogated, her tone laced with sarcasm.
"Mom, please," Alyssa pleaded, the weight of her mother's words heavy on her ears.
"Tell me the truth!" Alice demanded, her insistence driving her desire for transparency.
Alyssa, feeling trapped, retreated into her room, attempting to close the door. But Alice quickly intervened, stopping her from shutting the door completely.
