The Frost Fire leader laughed, screaming with delight as he witnessed the devastation his attack had wrought upon the elves. Meanwhile, amidst the chaos and destruction, I approached Irene, my eyes gleaming with a mix of determination and curiosity.
"Irene," I called out to her amidst the chaos, "do you want power? Enough to destroy anyone who dares to stand in your path?"
Irene turned towards me, her expression a mixture of confusion and desperation. "What do you mean?" she asked, her voice barely audible over the sounds of battle raging around us.
I took a step closer to her, my gaze piercing into hers as I planted seeds of ambition and vengeance in her mind. "I can give you the power you seek," I whispered, my voice barely a whisper amidst the cacophony of the dying groans of her fellow elves. "But know this, what I am about to do will change you forever. It will destroy your personality, your identity, and your very being. Are you willing to pay that price?"
Irene's eyes widened at my words, uncertainty flickering in their depths. But the fires of determination still burned within her, fueled by the atrocities committed by the Frost Fire Sect. "I will do whatever it takes to protect my people," she declared, her voice resolute.
I wouldn't know the full story, and I didn't care. This was an experiment.
With a nod, I reached out towards Irene, my hands glowing with a strange energy. "So be it," I murmured, as I began to channel my power into her, restructuring her nervous system, and through her mind, surgically transforming her body.
I had 2000 years of practice, so I knew what I was doing— it seemed that elves too had the Super-Inclination, a hidden genetic information embedded within a person's psyche. To be fair, every intelligent and empathetic life possessed a Super-Inclination. I recalled that one experiment I had on Earth when I accidentally gave sentience to a dog…
As the transformation took hold, Irene's form began to change, her once familiar features contorting into something altogether more sinister. But amidst the darkness that now consumed her, newfound strength and power surged forth, imbuing her with an aura of formidable might.
I didn't simply trigger her Super-Inclination but had enhanced it. Admittedly, it wasn't optimized. I had brutally rearranged her insides and scoured her every crevice allowing me a more intimate knowledge of elven physiology.
Normally, it would have been a painful process, but I destroyed Irene's pain receptors first, so she should be fine mentally.
With a triumphant smile, I stepped back, satisfied with my handiwork. "Now, go forth, Irene," I urged her, my voice echoing with a newfound sense of authority. "Show them the true meaning of fear."
Standing before me was a two-meter-tall monstrous elf with gray skin and ash blonde hair, while blue electric arcs bounced from her now naked skin. I transferred plenty of her carbon content into her skin, turning her skin dark gray which gave her the toughness of a diamond. I also didn't skimp on transmuting her life force to increase her volume and mass. However, the most notable change was that she now had electrokinesis.
Irene nodded, her eyes ablaze with newfound purpose as she turned towards the Frost Fire leader, her lips curling into a wicked grin. "With pleasure," she replied, her voice dripping with malice.
And with that, Irene charged forward, her newly acquired powers unleashed in a torrent of destruction upon the Frost Fire Sect. Several goons were quickly fried by her electricity, leaving half of the enemy forces rattled to the core. As she fought, her every movement filled with a sense of ruthless efficiency, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of satisfaction at the chaos we had wrought together.
The twins didn't panic; they only grimaced as they watched the monstrous elf reach blurring speeds, ripping through Frost Fire Sect members with raw strength. The elven monstrosity utilized her increased mass and a unique application of magnetism to somehow boost her speed. As she tore through their ranks, the ice-wielding twin created an ice barrier just in time, narrowly avoiding a lightning strike that came from her flank.
"By the stars," exclaimed the ice wielder, her voice strained with effort as she maintained the barrier against the onslaught of electricity. "What have you done to her?" She looked at me with fear.
Her twin, the fire wielder, gritted her teeth, flames dancing in her eyes as she focused on supporting her sister. "Doesn't matter now," she replied grimly. "We need to stop her before she destroys everything, including herself."
Because of the panic and the disarray in their minds, I could now read the twins' surface thoughts. It appeared that hidden within the panic was excitement… the two looked at the transformed Irene with keen interest as if they were looking at a very interesting test subject.
Or maybe, they even saw her like some special bug.
Arrogance… would be their downfall.
Together, the twins unleashed a coordinated assault, their elemental powers intertwining as they launched a barrage of ice and fire toward the monstrous elf. Yet, despite their efforts, Irene seemed unstoppable, her newfound powers proving to be more than a match for their combined strength.
Irene's laughter echoed through the chaos as she effortlessly deflected their attacks, her movements fluid and precise. "Is that all you've got?" she taunted, her voice tinged with madness. "I expected more from the mighty Frost Fire Sect! But no! You aren't mighty, but just a bunch of big bullies that deserved to be punished."
In the blink of an eye, the twins' heads were severed, leaving their bodies collapsing to the ground, lifeless. The remaining goons watched in horror as Irene grabbed the twins' heads, her grip tight and merciless.
It was impressive. Irene might have a talent for being a Super. I saw what she did, and it even impressed me— Irene was able to derive other abilities from her restructured flesh, the ability to lengthen her nails as if they were swords was impressive enough, but she could even magnetize her skin now. No, to be precise, she could magnetize the carbon content in her body allowing her nails to be as heavy as real swords, not to mention electric sharp given the concentration of heat around her nails.
"You see?" Irene declared, her voice dripping with contempt. "This is what happens when you stand against me. Against us. The elves are no smallfolk!" She held the heads aloft, their lifeless eyes staring blankly ahead.
The goons faltered, their resolve wavering in the face of Irene's overwhelming power. Some glanced at each other, silently questioning whether they should continue fighting or flee for their lives.
But before they could make a decision, Irene's gaze fell upon them, her eyes blazing with fury. "You think you can escape?" she snarled, her voice echoing with menace. "No one leaves here alive."
With a swift motion, Irene hurled the severed heads at the remaining goons, the impact sending electric shockwaves through their ranks. Irene advanced, her every step akin to a lightning strike.
It was a massacre.
The goons scattered, some attempting to flee while others stood their ground, desperation etched upon their faces. But it was futile. Irene was unstoppable, her powers unmatched and her thirst for vengeance unquenchable.
Soon, the goons all died leaving the Frost Fire Sect leader alone.
"My name is Vajen Omon, Leader of Frost Fire Sect! I am a proud cultivator of the methods of ice and fire. I shall not back away from you monsters! It is either I will die today, or I shall live triumphantly."
At his words, flames and frost enveloped his fists. Lightning crackled around Irene. I stood in my place, watching them with keen interest. Suddenly, Vajen vanished. I was surprised that he could reach speeds that I wasn't able to perceive. My feet were frozen in ice, and from my rear, I could see him in my mind's eye with fists burning brightly with power. I used telekinesis to explode a powerful shockwave around me. Vajen was hurled backward. Because I used too much power superseding my illusion, my illusory face had been dispelled, showing my real looks—a skull for a face, and a body for a set of bones.
Vajen staggered back, his expression a mix of shock and determination. "I see," he muttered, wiping blood from the corner of his mouth. "So you aren't even a mortal…"
Irene was similarly shocked as she witnessed my real appearance. It left her speechless.
"I don't even see myself as a god if that was what you were thinking, Vajen Omon." My mind replayed the scene of Vajen going at super speeds. I knew a super who could achieve pyrokinesis via their speed-based power, but this was the first time I saw the opposite.
What exactly happened was that Vajen froze the air around him and then superheated himself and the tracks he passed by, thus achieving super-speed. The more delicate details were fussy, but basically, he was destroying the function of physics—
Not that I would complain, most powers would go against the law of physics.
With a roar, Vajen unleashed a barrage of ice shards and fireballs toward me, his attacks were relentless and unforgiving. I responded in kind with my telekinesis intensifying as I countered each assault with deadly precision. This was a valuable learning experience for me.
Vajen barely dodged as I unleashed a mind blast at him, a combination of telepathy and telekinesis. If that had hit him, his brain would have melted. Vajen reappeared a short distance from me with a look of fear in his eyes.
I knew I had him on the ropes, but I should take my time. This was an experiment after all.
