"What was that?" Master Shen asked, his eyes darting toward a cloud of dust rising above the houses surrounding the mansion.
"Probably some fight between the guards and the rebels. You shouldn't worry." Shen Tai hummed as he read through a list of demands that Lieutenant Shi had made.
"No, something feels strange." Master Shen muttered. "I'm going out for a bit."
"You can't," Shen Tai called out as his father approached the exit. "What if you run into more than one core refining expert?"
"I'll call you if I need backup." Master Shen smiled; his silhouette flickered as he vanished from the city lord's mansion, leaving Shen Tai and Grandmaster Mao to discuss their plans together.
Master Shen felt his heart race. Something was deeply wrong. He didn't know how, but he could tell.
