Chapter 1 - Equinox

The forest of Illapa was no ordinary one—it pulsed with the hum of the electromagnetic spectrum. If the residents did not have his blessing, everything from atoms to trees would overcharge and cease to exist due to its power. Many entities try to steal the power from the forest; the electricity, the radiation, and the light it gives off are so powerful they death is worth the risk. The sanctuary guardians are not the physically opposing Onikuma that can create earthquakes just by walking or the cunning and deadly Div with their mystical trickery; they are but prisoners trapped in its depth, used more as visable deterrents. No, the sworn guardians of the forest are the ones you never see—the Cheshire Cats. While the blessing made the beings resistant to the forest's energy, the cats were immune due to their innate physiology and history. Living among all sorts of energy's for so long it allowed them to amplify this resistance to the point of being immune to the electromagnetic spectrum, and after years of breeding, centuries later the offspring learned how to harness and absorb the different forms of energy in their body, as the famous and trade mark "Cats Eye".

Legend goes, Illapa and Zeus were locked in battle fighting for their ideas to reign true over the every realm. The deepest part of the voids darkness couldn't engulf their light when one stray bolt fused by their power crossed time and space and struck the sanctuary of Mt. Olympus, causing the ground to crack and open a portal to not just any underworld but one of a combination of all myths and religions. The demons spewed out, killing those that lived on the mountain indiscriminately. The Greek gods fell one by one, and Athena, in her last hope of survival, reached out to her father for help. Zeus and Illapa battled in the void, cracking the nothingness around them, reviving and killing concepts; they were doing anything to get the better of their opponent until Athena Light breached the void to get in the middle of the two gods to relay the message. Should they not stop and come help, then the demons will spew into every other world's pantheons, "Mara head will show soon, and with that the fall of good in everything, you both must stop him." Before the message could end the two gods raced past the idea of infinity to get to Mt. Oympus to see the carnage. Illapa was horrified and leaped into battle, wiping out armies of the demons with waves of fire, and electricity, erasing these creatures from even hell and heaven. His brave front was turned sour by an unexpected attack, hit in the back by one of Zeus bolts. Illapa was confused when he saw Zeus gathering energy but understood when he saw the smirk on his face. His anger was felt with every word he said; the bass of Illapa's voice disintegrated all meaning of life and unlife around him. "You coward, you dare sacrifice your family for your own selfish needs"? "Families can be rebuilt, I've made a daughter out of clay; it's really not that hard; now being the only true God, that a pain."

"Was this your true plan all along?"

"It's called improvising, young one." Zeus, after gathering his energy, let go of the Jupiter-sized ball of godly electricity to erase everything, even Mt. Olympus itself. Illapa rage grew so hot time around him began to burn. As Zeus escaped, the light from the explosion lit up everything in creation, even blinding Zeus himself. Mt. Olympus was no more, but it wasn't gone; the pillars that stood there are nothing but particles in the wind. No bodies just scorched indication that something was there; anything sentient on top of that mountain didn't survive; expect for the weaken Illapa, absorbing the energy before it went fully off, was able to mitigate the damage, but not without sacrificing his own body. He saw the left-over energy was now fused into the mountain and was seeping down it into the mortals below. Acting fast, he created a barrier around the mountain to contain, then he blew life back into the sectioned-off area. Trees rose, flowers bloomed, rivers ran, and sparks of electricity jumped and jolted out of thin air. These things were different now that Illapa blessed them for making it so these elements could handle the energy coursing through the air and ground and benefit from it. The god thought it was over, until he saw the crack was still open but smaller. Creatures spewed out, and while some were erased due to overwhelming power, some were resistance, and one was different from the others. Its eyes glowed like twin stars; it danced through the electric air, its body shimmering in and out of existence, untouched by godly forces that would char even the nastiness demon; these Cheshire cats were perfect for Illapa plans. He sealed up the hole before bringing a large community of them into his realm and giving them the blessing and purpose. "Being immune, you all will watch over this land and will be rewarded with what you seek in isolation. Only gods of my status should be able to see through your paradoxical ways, making you perfect jailers for the creatures that got stuck here and for the ones that want to get in. My blessing will allow your species to grow exponentially over the years through your evolution method; you will also inherit my fighting spirit." With his final words, Illapa essences scattered through the air as the Cheshires looked at one another; with no words spoken, they all got to work on their new home. After supereons, the Cheshire cultivated the mountain even more, turning it into a lush green forest that shimmered with electricity and other powers, home to an otherworldly creatures trapped here all that time ago. Now named the Forest of Illapa, those who know of it wonder how it's kept so clean, why can't anyone go into it, and who protects it.
