Chapter 3: He will make a good son-in-law
"Don't mention grandfather," she replied to him
"I see! Do you have any plans?" Lily's grandfather then said, teasing William.
"Grandfather...."
"I know folks like you. Don't act like your help was for no reason. I see. Anyways, in whatever you do, make sure you ensure that my granddaughter's safety won't be at stake."
Nodding his head in understanding, "I get it grandfather."
"It's okay. I trust you, son." He then said, going into his car and driving off with smiles written all over his face.
William smirked. Was there a new expectation? He would be looking forward to knowing what it was.
Since he was the only one left, he no longer had a reason to be there. So, he left.
On the other hand, the old man on his way home was imagining what it would look like if Lily and William were an item. His teeth were on full display as he pictured them being together.
When Lily got home, she didn't waste time to head to the shower. Inside the luxurious plain white bathroom, Lily sat inside the tub as she reminisced on what had happened to her last night. If Jane wasn't there for her, would she have become the source of gossip by now?
Happy, she thanked her stars. After having her bath, she took a towel and had her body dried up applied body lotions, and had a simple office wear on.
Coming down from her bedroom, he was in a haste. She had to get to the office within an hour, as she picked up her car key to leave.
"Good morning Lily! How are you feeling now?" Madam Cross said, freaking Lily out.
Lily almost jumped up in fear. Seeing as it was Madam Cross, she calmed down.
Tapping her forehead, she smiled.
She had actually forgotten that she shares this house with Madam Cross.
"Morning Madam Cross!" She greeted her.
"Come have your breakfast dear." Madam Cross spoke to her so adorably.
"Not right now Madam Cross. I need to head to the office now."
"I know dear, just a bite."
Giving up, she went straight to the dining area and ate her fill. Seeing the satisfaction in Madam Cross' eyes, her her softened.
This woman had played the role of a mom ever since she had let her in.
Picking up her purse, she hugged Madam Cross and left the mansion immediately. Madam Cross smiled. Lily was like a daughter to her. She just wished that her daughter would try her best to make her proud.
Lily appeared at Waters Corporation's main gate in less than thirty minutes. Blowing her car horn, the main gate opened.
Lily then drove all the way to her private garage. This was her biggest inheritance. Her father's legacy. She swore to protect it.
After she parked her car, she went up, all the way to her office following the main door.
She needed to see the conduct of her employees.
As she passed through the main entrance, the whole employee stood up to greet her as a sign of respect.
She could only nod her head in acceptance, walking past them all.
When she got to her office, her Secretary already had the door opened for her.
Walking in, she sat down and called her Secretary to the office.
"Good day, president!" The Secretary greeted respectfully.
"I need the PR report on the Atlantis project."
"Yes, president." She replied, bowed down, and left.
Soon, she heard a knock on her door.
"Come in."
Opening the door, Jane walked in.
"Boss, I think the investors are up and ready for the meeting."
"I see. I will be there in a second." Lily answered without looking up, as she addressed some files on her office desk.
After she was done, she stood up and left the office while Jane and her Secretary followed behind.
When they got in, the investors were already set. Sitting at the head of the seats, she looked up at each of them.
"Good day everyone. It feels great to have you all here, up and ready. Let's go!"
They all greeted as well as they waited for her to present the important documents.
One after the other, Lily dropped each of the documents that needed to be reviewed. I had my staff draft those up right under my supervision, so please let me know if you find any error that needs to be adjusted.
The investors looked through the whole files that were submitted, nodding their heads in approval. "This woman surely, is very impressive. There was way more than what old folks like them could provide." They said in their mind. They were glad that they didn't underestimate her else by now, they would be the ones who would be ashamed.
"Is there anything that needs to be adjusted?" She asked, eager to learn more.
"For me, there's nothing wrong with it."
"This makes sense!" Another said.
"It's perfect for me."
"Well, in that case, this meeting is over." Lily finally said.
Standing up, she stood up and left under everyone's gaze.
The investors could not tell the kind of woman Lily was. They could not predict her next move. They were really impressed.
Lily appeared in her office once more accompanied by Jane and her secretary.
"Ensure everything works fine on your end. I will be sure to play my role here." She said, instructing them on what to do before sitting on her seat.
Bowing, they left to focus on what they had been told to do.
Standing up, Lily moved to her shelf and picked up numerous files that she would work on for the day.
Sitting at her table working, she received a call, it was from her grandfather.
"Hello, Grandfather!"
"How are you Lily dear?"
"Grandfather, I am fine. Working."
"I know dear, I would really love us to discuss something important."
Lily froze.
"Discuss? Is everything okay grandfather?"
"It is about William. Very important!"
