When Melisa and Teresa entered their new residence, they could finally see that the Sigmund Kingdom was a kingdom that did not lack any luxury. The palace for the future crown princess alone was more luxurious than the palace in the Cyrille Kingdom. The number of servants was also clearly more numerous, although they seemed reluctant to be intimate with the future crown princess of the small and weak kingdom.
Melisa ignored their cold treatment and searched for her room with Teresa's help. Her room had the best facilities and view in the palace. Even if the servants didn't like their new master, those people seemed unable to do much about it and continued with the minimal care they had to give Melisa.
"This place is quiet."
Melisa commented as she tried to sit on the large bed in her room. The softness of her new bed made Melisa sigh tiredly. No matter how beautiful and comfortable her new palace was, it could not make Melisa comfortable in her new home.
"Your Highness. The way those people treated you... I feel like I deserve to die for letting those people be so rude to you."
Melisa smiled bitterly, then shook her head softly in reply to Teresa's words.
"If you die, who will accompany me in this place, Teresa?"
"But...."
"It's okay. It's only our first day in this place. Slowly, let's persuade them to accept us, okay?"
Melisa always tried to find hope in the midst of her despair. Even if she was disliked by her future husband, Melisa still appeared as a calm girl when she was confronted by her knights who were tormented by their circumstances.
"Now, first of all, let's get cleaned up first."
Without calling out to the servants outside her room, Melisa got up to find the bathroom that was supposed to be connected to her room. Melisa knew it was unlikely that those people would be willing to help her in that place. Therefore, just like when they were on their way to Sigmund's royal capital, Melisa preferred to take care of herself as she had always done.
"Your Highness, I will prepare your clothes immediately."
Seeing that Melisa was about to go for a bath, Teresa swiftly went over to the wardrobe to choose suitable clothes for her princess. Teresa had learned a lot since she decided to follow Melisa as a servant. Although in the past, someone served Teresa because of her noble status, the woman was not awkward when she performed the duties of a maid deftly.
"Alright. Thank you, Teresa."
Although she initially refused out of bad taste, lately, Melisa had been letting Teresa behave like a maid. Melisa let Teresa deftly help her put on her new dress. Since Melisa was not used to the Sigmund Kingdom's elaborate clothing and dressing-up style, the girl ended up letting Teresa do all the work.
"Now, it's time for you to take a bath, Teresa."
Once Melisa had finished being dressed up by Teresa, it was Melisa's turn to ask Teresa to clean up after she had to walk quite a distance to reach the palace earlier. Teresa was obviously unhappy when Melisa asked them to separate for one more time. But when Melisa started to put on a pleading expression, Teresa moodily finally went to take a shower and change as quickly as she could.
KNOCK KNOCK!
Not long after Teresa left, Melisa heard someone knocking on the door of her room. Melisa personally got up to open the door to her room. In front of her now stood Julian, who looked at her reluctantly even though he was no longer saying annoying things.
"His Majesty has sent you a party invitation. In a month, you have to make sure that you're ready to appear in public as the crown prince's future fiancée."
"I understand."
Melisa replied as her hand stretched out to take the letter with the beautifully engraved writing placed on the silver tray brought by Julian. A month was not a long time to learn all the procedures of social gatherings in the Sigmund Kingdom. Now Melisa knew that when King Dillion said that she should study hard, he didn't want her to waste any time establishing herself in the Sigmund Kingdom.
"Today, you are exempt from duty as you have just arrived in the kingdom. But starting tomorrow, there will be a series of experienced teachers who will teach you the manners and traditions of our kingdom."
"Alright."
As Julian was not looking for trouble with her, Melisa also thought there was no need for her to show hostility. Melisa listened intently to Julian's explanation until the man finally stopped talking and snorted when he saw Melisa's earnestness.
"If it wasn't for you, Miss Amelia might not have had to leave this place."
Although Julian spoke in a very low voice, Melisa's sensitive ears could still catch what Julian was muttering. Hearing a strange woman's name made Melisa pause for a few moments. Judging from the way Julian spoke, the person named Amelia must have been the crown princess candidate before she came.
"If you have nothing more to say, you can leave."
However, rather than feel sorry for a person she had never met before, Melisa would rather stay for the sake of the future of her kingdom. It was not Melisa's fault if someone was expelled from the palace before she arrived. Even if Melisa could choose, she would never come to the Sigmund Kingdom.
Melisa ignored the displeased look Julian gave her after she spoke. The girl did not wait for Julia to leave as she closed the door to her room again, then sat down while looking at the invitation letter in her hand.
When Melisa had to appear at social events, there was no doubt that she had to appear as a girl who had a good relationship with Alexius. In a month, besides learning how to be a proper crown princess, Melisa also needed to learn how to approach her future husband. Melisa's head throbbed when she had to think about it. The girl let out a long breath before she suddenly got up to approach the study table in her new room.
Melisa knew she might have to throw away her pride in order to have a good relationship with Alexius. But no matter what, the peace of her kingdom was more important to Melisa than her existence.
