Olivia closed her eyes and feared for the worse, but it seemed that luck was on her side.
"Alpha! There you are! Please don't wander off so far." A voice suddenly announced, placing a halt on his movement. Olivia remained perfectly still, she knew this was no time for mistakes, if she got caught it was over.
"Please, come this way, everyone is waiting for you." Said the other man who had come to fetch the Alpha of the invading pack.
For about fifteen seconds, nobody made a move, causing Olivia to worry that he had spotted her. Should she try and hide? Or just make a run for it and take her chances?
Definitely no! If that man could kill Alpha Cain, then there was no doubt in her mind he would end her. Thankfully, she didn't have to run, the intimidating man left with his underling, leaving Olivia alone.
Olivia stayed couped up with the corpses for hours, during this time she watched the gruesome manner these men plundered the estate, killing everyone in their path.
At some point she wished she'd go blind, but when she closed her eyes, the face of her parents flashed before her eyes. It was nothing short of a nightmare for Olivia, snuggling up to dead people so she wouldn't get caught.
The raid lasted until the next morning, but Olivia hadn't gotten a wink of sleep. The next morning, the men who called themselves warriors went around collecting corpses and piling them in heaps to burn.
"Over here! Some of the swine were kept here." A warrior hollered, drawing attention to where Olivia hid.
She clutched tightly onto the dress she had on, they were coming, and judging by the sound of their footsteps, there were many of them. Olivia wasn't quick, nor was she anything a fighter, but she knew how to read a situation.
Hence, she braced herself for what was to come and smeared some of the blood over her arms and face, forcing herself not to throw up.
And when she heard them approaching she fell over the corpse, laying still.
"Disgusting! It's true what they say, the corpses of demons always rot the fastest!" One of the warriors remarked, standing over the corpses.
He reached for the corpse of a young boy, no older than thirteen, and threw it over his shoulder. "Their kin have meat on them, must've felt good feasting off the soil of others."
Soil of others? What could he mean by that? Olivia didn't have much time to worry over that, because in the blink of an eye she was picked up next and carried outside. She stole a peek at the large heaps of corpses getting torched.
There were hundreds of them, all turned to ash, her eyes watered as she watched them throw children her age into these heaps. She was on the verge of crying, but her despair soon turned to fright.
"Mo..Momma?"
Olivia whimpered in a dazed state, her heart sunk and her eyes widened, she could hear her own heartbeat as she watched some of the warriors haul her mother's corpse and throw it onto a heap of bodies.
"Momma!" She cried out in an ear deafening tone.
"Hey, this one is alive!" The man carrying her alerted the others, Olivia sunk her teeth into his shoulders and jumped off, landing messily and spraining her ankle.
"Damned brat! Get her!" He roared, holding onto his shoulder, Olivia had sunk her teeth into his wound from last night, getting him at a bad spot.
Limping over to the heap, she reached out and shouted. "No! Don't touch her! Mother! Please leave her alone!"
The tears she couldn't summon had started to flow freely, the men were about to torch the heap, her mother and younger sibling would die in an instant.
"Mother! Please! She's my mother!" Olivia cried out, getting even slower, as the pain from getting her ankle sprained started to take it's toll on her body.
The men holding the flame over the heaps were startled by the cry and fixed their gazes on the child, wondering who she was.
Or rather, just how crazy she must've been to dive head first into this sort of situation. Wouldn't it have been better to play dead and try to escape?
Because of their hesitation, Olivia managed to reach her mother and laid over her, hugging the woman's body to herself.
"Momma, hey, get up Momma, you can't sleep here, we have to leave, please!" Olivia vehemently shook her mother, but she did not budge, she laid lifeless, attracting flies to her broken jaw.
"Filthy kid!" One of the warriors tried to grab her by the arm, but Olivia wouldn't be moved, she struggled against him, fighting to be with her mother.
Her struggle was so fierce, that she ended up pushing him back a bit, it wasn't a mighty push, just a slight shove, hardly noticable. But, it bruised his pride, and he would not let that sort of disrespect slide.
"Alright, since you want to be with that thing, I'll give you exactly what you want!" He raised his voice and kicked her body off the heap.
Olivia landed on the ground, and wounded her left arm, she tried to get on her feet, but he didn't give her any time to recover. Her attacker proceeded to launch assaults on her, kicking her body and tossing her around like a rag doll.
Some of the other warriors who couldn't bare to watch the display, turned their heads away, thinking it better not to see it.
The angry warrior pulled her by the hair and held her face up, then proceeded to land deafening blows to her face, fighting her like he would a fully grown adult. Olivia was beaten down and could hardly retain her consciousness, with each blow, her vision turned blurrier.
Tired of punching, he brought her face to his and spat out, "You are going to learn, why you don't mess with Blood Moon Pack!" he declared and then tossed her lifeless body onto the same heap as her mother.
"Hand me the torch! I'm going to burn this filth alive!" He raged with bloodshot eyes, and an outstretched palm.
The other warriors exchanged quick glances, killing them was one thing, they always made certain it was quick and painless for the children. But, to burn a little girl alive? That was taking it too far.
"Are you lot deaf?! Hand me the torch!"
Olivia flinched, but then she felt something sharp poking at her hand. With what little strength she had left, she reached for what turned out to be a dagger.
"But, it's against the pack code to…"
"It seems like you didn't hear me correctly." The angry warrior said, he placed his palm on the man's shoulder and nearly broke it with his strength. The weaker warrior fell to his knees, unable to witstand the other man's wrath.
"Do I need to repeat myself now?! Or are you going to hand me the torch?!" He spat out in an angry tone, sending fear across the area.
The warriors straightened their backs at his angry tone. The man holding the torch hurried over to him and tendered him the burning stick.
"Good!" He took his hand off the helpless warrior and turned to face Olivia.
Unfortunately for him, the moment he did, a dagger came flying straight at him and landed directly into his right eye!
"Ahh! This bitch!" He cursed and fell to his knees, dropping the torch.
Olivia swiftly crawled off the heap and rushed towards the scent of burning flame. She picked up the stick, nearly burning herself, and raised it over head swinging it loosely from side to side, repelling the nearby warriors.
"No one come near! Don't you dare take another step or I'll kill you!" She spat out in a venomous tone threatening them, despite not being able to see a single thing around her!
