Jamie groaned as she fell backwards, following the heavy slap of an ogre. She quickly recovered herself, armed with blades formed out of her blood.
The ogre pivoted to her, wielding a huge axe in its fat palms. Jamie rolled to the right, and with a swing of her arm, the blood complied with her movement, slicing through the air and across the body of the huge creature.
Satisfied with her skill, she watched as the ogre divided in two and the upper part slid over the lower dropping to the ground. Jamie quickly turned her attention to Paige, to make sure she was okay.
Two huge hands grabbed Jamie from behind, suspending her arms. She struggled to get off the grip of the eight feet tall creature, its saliva drooling on her. Another was bulling its way to her, roaring, its voice resonating through the endless abyss.
Jamie gave a backflip, escaping the collision of the oncoming ogre to her captor. The two creatures were stunned as Jamie landed to the ground with her left leg first. The blood following the vertical movement, sliced the creatures perfectly in twos.
Shifting her gaze across, she spotted Paige trying to maneuver her way and escape the attacks of the beasts. Sadly for Paige, her abilities were nothing to counter these deadly assaults.
Jamie dashed with speed, running towards Paige, her arms straightened to the back and ribbons of blood adorned around it.
Jamie leaped into the air, charged with offense at another ogre with its axe flung to her. A weapon made of dust and ash was nothing compared to Jamie's deadly blood, it sliced the axe, giving her space to land on the shoulders of the creature.
The ogre hollered, grabbing Jamie with its hands that were three times bigger than her. Jamie scoffed, maintaining her position on its shoulders. She raised her hands in the air and put them together, the crimson liquid waving around her forearms, transporting its way to her overhanged hands, forming a sharp knife blade.
Jamie flashed a psychotic but tired smile, balancing her feet on its shoulders even though it tried flinging her away. With no further hesitation, she plunged her hands downwards, sinking the blade into the head of the creature.
Jamie hopped off the creature before it landed back to the ground. Another was still trying to axe Paige, who was wiggling her tiny body around with fear. "Hey!" Jamie yelled, calling its attention.
The ogre turned, breathing heavily. It had a hunch back, bigger upper body and thin legs. It roared, pounding its hand to the chest and raising the other hand with the axe into the air. All around Jamie, more ogres began to materialize from the dust with ruthless expressions on their faces.
"Get out of here Paige, go now!" Jamie ordered the pink haired girl, who was frightened on the ground. She trembled, standing up. "Go! Cut yourself so I can find you," Jamie ordered. Jamie's abilities were vast and powerful, she's able to sense blood from far away too.
Paige nodded and started to run the opposite way, looking back at short intervals to see Jamie taking on an unwinnable battle.
She panted frightfully, threading her way through the dark endless void, dodging poodles and rocks. An eruption behind, startled her. It didn't make her stop and watch what will happen just like the way movies do, it actually pumped in so much fear that she ran with the topmost speed.
Similar burrow anacondas were springing up here and there, trying to grab her by the jaws and into the ground. Her rigorous movement made it difficult to strike their target.
Paige hastened her pace, swearing not to look back. She suddenly tripped and fell to the ground.
An anaconda emerged from the dust anterior to her feet, its jaws wide open, exposing pink innards, lunging to her. Paige quickly waved her hand across her, displaying a bright spectrum of colours. It blinded the anacondas temporarily as she resumed her flee.
She picked up the pace, creating enough distance she could with the stunned anacondas that had burrowed back into the ground. Remembering Jamie's words, she pulled out a pocket knife which all the academics on the voyage were compelled to wield. Still running, Paige quickly slashed the blade on her arm, a stream of blood flowing out concurrently.
She missed her step and slipped, falling and rolling down a steep slope of dust and rubble.
Groan.
Paige groaned, feeling the burning sensations in the bruises she just got from the fall.
She sat up with pain and relaxed her back at the bottom of the hill, her pink-purple hair now tattered, shielding her view. "Fuck," she cursed to herself.
Paige ran her fingers through her hair, pushing it backwards to view her surroundings. She couldn't tell if it was much darker here or her hurting eyes were playing games on her. She slowly raised her left arm in which she cut, noticing she had elongated the cut due to the fall. Now, the arm was completely painted in blood. Paige cursed out loudly again, now with emotions in it.
She shook her head east to west, trying to hold back painful tears. What was this? She thought. I'm only a child.
Paige stopped her vehement movement when she saw something glow in the extreme dark before her. Unlike the South Wing in general, it was pitch black.
A red glow.
Paige placed her hands on the ground and scooted herself backwards with instinct, but she was already at the foot of the slope. Her eyes constructed with fear unlike the six that were devised with prejudice, emerging from the dark.
Six red eyes owned by a three-headed living gargoyle surfaced.
Paige breathed heavily, her chest, rising and falling. Was her eyes playing games with her?
