That large gathering was coming to an end, the various people in the vast courtyard remained silent after that magical demonstration of cosmic energy. There were people of different ethnicities, nationalities, regions, and ages. After a few minutes, everyone there began to wonder what they would do next; the principal had left, many exchanged glances, yet no one seemed eager to interact.
Were they free to go? Could they wander around that day? This doubt, this illusory feeling of freedom, quickly dissipated. Behind them, on the rooftop, was a young man who didn't seem to be more than seventeen years old, with blond hair and a cheerful expression. He leaped down and quickly found himself in the midst of all the students; his body radiated yellow flames, which, despite warming those nearby, did not harm anyone close.
As he reached the center of all the students who were watching, he began his explanation. "Nice to meet you all, my name is Nova, Professor Nova. Unfortunately, I'm not like Master Hellish to have many announcements. But to clear up any doubts and end this great mess, so that we can all start classes right now in the morning."
Everyone seemed to look at him, certainly not out of respect, but that mystical energy surrounding him gradually improved people's moods.
Again, he seemed to take a deep breath as if organizing what he was going to say. "Alright, from today, all of you represent the school, so the rules will be strict for you."
The vast majority understood English, and those of other languages were given a small earpiece that provided almost instantaneous conversion of what he said.
"During the day and afternoon, you'll be in class, learning to deal with this mystical energy. For those who are not from Chicago, a room will be provided for you in the dormitory section in that direction." At this point, he threw one of his hands back, pointing in the direction of the dormitories.
"For those from Chicago, in the evening, if you want to sleep at home, it's up to you."
He then smiled at everyone there in a captivating and welcoming manner. "You will undertake various social tasks, and yes, you will use your powers for good, to help society. Also, fights within the school and the use of your powers without justification are not allowed. In case of infractions, you will be transferred to the detention class."
Nova, in turn, clapped his hands in front of his face, causing his warmth to overflow throughout that area, and at that moment, he looked somewhat threatening.
"The detention class is required to train until their bodies are exhausted. They are also obligated to be responsible for cleaning the school. I don't believe you want to be part of that."
He raised his hand and pointed to the sky.
"You are responsible for our future. We, allies of the cosmos, will help humanity move forward in a promising way."
Finally, the teacher began to leave, and as he walked away, he left his final warning.
"Everything relevant will be in the email and the envelope that was delivered to each of you along with permission to return home or the dormitory key. Have a good day, dear students."
As soon as he left, many opened the envelope that had been given to them afterward, and quickly the crowd of people began to disperse. And finally, a girl remained there alone, sitting. One of the teachers seemed to approach the young woman who clearly needed help. As the young man in his early twenties approached, he observed the girl for a while.
"Good morning, you must be Liang Cho, right?"
At that moment, a few raindrops began to fall, not a heavy rain, but they were indeed getting wet there. The young woman raised her head in the direction of the voice she had heard at that moment, but she didn't look directly at him.
"Yes, it's me. And I don't know where to go, and I was afraid to ask strangers for help."
The man there smiled and then reached out his right arm.
"That's alright, young lady. My name is Dave, I'm your teacher, the teacher of class A. I was informed about your special condition. What brings someone like you here?"
Dave's voice seemed to sound a bit stern, but he didn't appear to be scolding the young woman but rather concerned about her stay in that place. The young woman then timidly decided to break the silence.
"I came to learn more about this mysterious power, maybe if I learn to use it well, I can even see in some way."
She could hear him sigh. "Alright, I hope you find people you can rely on. And that you discover something early on that can give you some autonomy."
Dave paused briefly. "I recommend not putting too much pressure on yourself. Anyway, my arm is extended in front of you. I'll take you to the classroom. We're getting wet."
In this manner, everyone headed to their respective classrooms as a light rain began to fall on the school. The campus was enormous, with four floors and hundreds of rooms equipped with all the necessary apparatus of the highest quality money could buy. A billion-dollar investment had been made in that place, with a large enough plot of land to disappear from sight of those who observed it. There was a football field, a training area, a nationally renowned hospital, among other amenities.
Certainly, the people who would reside there were well taken care of, some even better than their lives before enrollment. It was entirely nonprofit and without investors because the philanthropist Hellish believed that this way he could lead everyone in a better manner.
Class A, 9:00 AM.
After most of the students had already found their places, the teacher of that class, Dave Kansas, positioned himself in front of the digital board. He wrote his name there so that everyone could see and greet him. He was of Japanese descent, with slightly slanted eyes that suggested either American father or mother, his hair was black, and his eyes were amber. He was perfectly groomed, wearing an impeccable suit and tie, appearing to be someone who cared a lot about aesthetics.
Everyone was silent at that moment in the room; it was difficult to find familiar faces. It seemed that this cosmic energy selectively awakened. Dave pulled out a clipboard and put on his reading glasses.
"Welcome to our humble classroom, my name is Dave Kansas, and I'll be your teacher. Some important information."
The faces of all the students were fixed on the face of the teacher present there, some confident, others fearful, but all were focused on what he would say.
"We have four offenders in our class. That is, people with cosmic powers who have injured or killed people who do not possess cosmic energy."
Some of the students looked at each other, trying to figure out who these "delinquents" were, and soon a murmur began, but it was quickly silenced when the teacher cleared his throat.
"Arthur Leon'Brave, Bao Hao, Juan Martinez, and Riley Hills. However, I see one is late. Anyway."
Dave removed his glasses and placed them on his desk. He looked at the faces of the students present, especially the three who were there.
"What I want to say to you is that to me, you are all innocent. There is no crime if you had no knowledge of your capabilities."
He walked to the front of the desk and took a more rigid posture, placing his hands behind his back, appearing to be someone skilled in diplomacy.
"You are young and still small. You do not know the extent of the strength you have received. However, I am here to help you." Once again, he faced his class.
"Today we will study the basic mythology. I will interact with everyone during the class. I see that we have people from all over the world, so initially it will be interesting to learn about your customs and what you like."
He explained how the morning class would be in a didactic and eloquent manner for the students, many of whom felt relieved. It didn't seem to be something too unbearable to endure. Initially, all the commotion and sequences of warnings had left many of them fearful. However, after Nova and Dave spoke, they seemed calmer.
Dave spoke again. "Finally, I will teach you about something important. The basic concept, something you will carry with you for the rest of your life. Because a new society is beginning. You will learn to see."
He walked around the classroom still like a statesman as he exemplified what he had explained.
"Remember what I said earlier? About there being no crimes if you didn't know your own strength? Now, I will explain to you why some are confused about the powers they received."
And so the class continued, with Dave explaining to his students what they needed to know initially.
