As the coach rumbled along the winding road, Benar's anticipation grew with each passing mile. The verdant canopy of the forest gradually gave way to sprawling fields dotted with quaint villages, each a mere waypoint on his journey to the grandeur of the Capitol. As the sun dipped below the horizon, casting hues of crimson and gold across the sky, the silhouette of towering spires emerged on the horizon, signaling their approach to the heart of the realm.
The Capitol, a marvel of architecture and ambition, loomed large in the distance, its towering edifices stretching towards the heavens in a testament to the power and prestige of the kingdom. The streets teemed with activity, a cacophony of voices and colors blending into a symphony of urban life. Benar's heart quickened with excitement as he took in the sights and sounds of this bustling metropolis, each step bringing him closer to his destiny.
When the coach arrived at the main gate, Benar was quick to grab his belongings, usher a quick thanks, and be on his way. He decided to just wander the Capitol for the time being. Taking in all of the sights was an amazing sensation. The variety of vendors in the streets left Benar wishing his family had more money. He wasn't able to bring much money from his home. While he could contradict the prices of the wares, it felt like a grave misuse of his powers.
After about an hour of wandering, Benar decided to find something to eat. He settled on the cheapest food vendor he could find. There were two employees working this establishment. It seemed to be an older man and his daughter. The girl looked to be about Benar's age; She had silky black hair that flowed halfway down her back, and piercing red eyes. Her looks happened to intrigue Benar, so he decided to test a theory of his. He began trying to use his magic to contradict him having zero knowledge of her. Benar was shocked to find that it was working, information about her began appearing within his head. The girls name was Zalia Penderson, and it seemed like she was going to attempt to attend the same magic academy as him.
That was all the information he could fish at the moment, using his magic like that was more taxing than he thought. Benar was definitely going to focus on training his magical reserves these next 3 years.
"What would you like to order?" Zalia inquired before crossing her arms.
After contemplating for a bit, Benar responded with "I'll have the rice bowl."
"That'll be 20 wrictos." She replied with no hesitation.
Benar then proceeded to hand over the correct amount, and took a seat on a barstool. Within 5 minutes, Zalia can be seen serving Benar his bowl. He uttered a quick thanks, then he began to dig into his food. After cleaning his bowl out, Benar brought it back to Zalia.
"Thank you again, for the food." Benar remarked with a smile.
"It's no problem, have a good day." Zalia replied curtly.
"I will, and I'll be seeing you around" He declared while walking away.
This left Zalia with a confused look on her face, she could tell by the way he spoke that he was being completely serious. But why was he so confident that they'd cross paths again? She decided not to think too much on it, but she felt that she would always remember his unique eyes, one magenta and one green.
Nevertheless, Benar continued to wander so he could kill time. He had to report to the schools campus by Noon. Taking a glance at the sun, he realized the sun was nearing its apex. It would probably reach it within the hour, so Benar decided to start heading towards the campus. Well, he would've if he knew where it was located. It was tempting to just ask around, but Benar decided on trying his hand at contradicting information again. With a simple thought, he determined the direction of the academy. Being able to determine the direction with little effort perplexed Benar, before he determined that it probably had to do with the complexity of the information he wanted to contradict. The difference between learning a general direction, and learning someone's past, is quite vast. That's why the energy cost varied greatly.
After walking in the direction of the academy, Benar finally arrived at the institution. While he didn't get an exact location, the giant sign saying "Laserra, Academy Of Magic," gave it away.
As he walked towards the main gate, Benar peered inside to see several students clad in different color robes. The teenagers that weren't in robes began to congregate towards the grand hall, so Benar decided to head that way as well. When he arrived in the hall, he saw a line of potential students waiting to speak with the receptionist. The amount of students aspiring to attend Laserra was massive, but Benar knew that most of these applicants would be rejected.
However, he was confident that he would be admitted, there was no way that someone with his abilities could be rejected.
While he was waiting in line, Benar's heart began to pound with excitement as he drew closer to the front. He glanced at the aspiring applicants once again, He noticed that they looked just as ambitious as he did. Benar felt a slight sense of camaraderie as he thought about the upcoming future. Some of these people would accompany him on his journey.
Finally, it was Benar's turn to approach the receptionist, a stern looking woman with glasses perched on the tip of her nose. She stared at him for a moment, as if she was assessing his worth with a mere glance.
"Name?" she demanded, her voice sharp and authoritative.
"Benar Falso." he replied calmly.
"Okay Benar, you will need to report to Exam Area B, that is where your entrance exam will be conducted." she informed him, before shooing him away.
"Thank you," Benar muttered as he walked away.
After obtaining the necessary information, Benar began to make his way towards the exam area. The feeling of anticipation grew with each step he took, and when he finally arrived, Benar looked around at all the people he would be competing with. There had to be 100 applicants in his area alone. This caused a determined look to manifest within his eyes, things were about to get interesting.
