As Arin and Gracillia journeyed through the dense foliage of the Eldwood Forest, the sky darkened abruptly, and a whirling vortex of colors burst forth in the air above them. This was the Fae Maelstrom, a storm spoken of in hushed tones by the elders of the forest. It was said to be the forest's way of correcting what was out of balance, and it rarely appeared without cause.
Gracillia, sensing the danger, urged Arin to flee, but it was too late. The Maelstrom's winds howled, and a bolt of prismatic lightning struck Arin, engulfing him in a blinding light. When his vision cleared, he found himself in an unfamiliar place, with the towering trees of Eldwood nowhere in sight.
