Before long, Liu Hengyuan came back, holding a Haagen-Dazs ice cream in his hand.
"Eat up! When you're feeling down, a sweet treat will do the trick."
He handed the ice cream to Li Youxi; it was her favorite flavor. Whenever she was upset, he had always soothed her with this sweet treat.
She took it from him and slowly ate it without thanking him, as if she had grown accustomed to Liu Hengyuan's kindness. She took his gestures for granted, and he, shrugging his shoulders indifferently, was used to her attitude toward him.
For several minutes, Liu Hengyuan said nothing, just sat beside Li Youxi, quietly watching her eat until she finished, and then he took the trash from her hand and threw it into the garbage can.
"Now tell me, what's going on with all the crying?"
Liu Hengyuan asked Li Youxi gently, his heart aching at the sight of her tear-streaked face from earlier.
"Hengyuan... Tianyou is seeing another woman outside..."
