No one would expect a large scary and bloodthirsty-looking beast to be peace-loving but she was, and she preferred to stay that way. But just because she was sleeping doesn't mean she was unaware of what was going on around her.
She could still sense everything in her surroundings, and she could see her son playing king of the beasts, but she would just laugh inwardly at that.
