"As expected of the System," Su Han sighed as he stood up from his bed and patted his butt before heading towards his courtyard garden. It was already night, with the moon and stars shining brightly, casting a beautiful glow as the light air swayed his clothes lightly.
Su Han gazed up at the night sky and remarked, "I never thought before that night could be this beautiful. And looking at the night sky, it reminds me of a song from my previous life."
These nights, this weather, by the riverbank,
In the moonlight, my heart is lost.
In the silent whispers of the wind,
Your name resonates in my soul.
Su Han hummed the song softly as he settled into the wooden recliner chair in his courtyard. "Hmm, now that I have the System to help me cultivate. What should I do all day?" he pondered aloud.
"As for cultivating, what nonsense," Su Han muttered to himself. "Let Wu Jin handle that. Even if I cultivate, it won't make much difference. So, I'll just be a salted fish," he concluded.
"This world is too backward in terms of entertainment. No television, no mobile phones like things." Su Han sighed, contemplating his options.
"I could reluctantly go to a brothel to pass the time," Su Han mused, but then quickly dismissed the idea.
"Forget about it. If my extremely handsome appearance attracts the attention of a women there and her suitor happens to be a young master type, it won't end well." Su Han said shamelessly.
"Hmm, oh yes, why don't I go to the sect library and look for information about the situation of the place where I am and the cultivation world? Since I arrived in this world, I haven't had much information. As for my family, their level was too low for them to know anything beyond their surroundings. So, they couldn't provide any information about the wider world."
"And when I arrived in that city, I could only interact with low-level cultivators, so the information I gathered was limited. Since joining the sect, I've been busy with recovering my cultivation, but now is the best time to gather more knowledge," Su Han said, continuing, "Let's go tomorrow. It's late, and I should sleep."
When one becomes a cultivator, they don't need to sleep; the Qi in their body keeps them from experiencing fatigue, unless they exhaust their Qi or mental energy. Since Su Han decided to live the life of a "salted fish" so, he wasted no time and diligently pursued it.
…
As time passed and the next day dawned, sunlight streamed in through the horizon, gently waking Su Han. With a yawn, he stretched and remarked, "Ah, good sleep."
After rising from the wooden reclining chair, Su Han took a refreshing bath, dressed himself in new outer sect disciple clothes, and then left the courtyard.
The outer court disciple residence and Su Han's courtyard were situated in the southwest corner of the sect. When outer court disciples joined the sect, they were assigned their own residences, which they had to share with two other disciples.
However, Su Han preferred not to share his living space, so he bought a small courtyard instead.
Seeing that Su Han had bought a courtyard shortly after joining the sect, people didn't act foolishly as often portrayed in typical novels.
Instead, considering his Level 3 Qi Gathering Realm cultivation base and ability to afford buying a courtyard, they speculated that Su Han must have a powerful family backing him.
This deterred them from causing trouble, knowing that meddling with someone of his status was not something mere Qi Gathering Realm cultivators could do.
Thus, Su Han encountered no trouble for buying a courtyard.
After leaving his courtyard, Su Han headed to the restaurant for breakfast. Located at the center of the outer court disciple residence area in the southwest, he enjoyed his meal there before setting off towards the west where the sect's library was located.
After a 20-minute walk, Su Han arrived outside the sect's library. It stood as a massive pagoda-style building with three floors, high above him like a giant. Without thinking much, Su Han entered the library.
Upon entering, Su Han was greeted by rows of shelves stacked with books and jade slips, with some disciples holding books in their hands or with jade slips placed on their foreheads. To his left, near the entrance, was a desk with many books placed on it. Seated behind the desk was a young outer court disciple, engrossed in a book whose cultivation Su Han couldn't see.
As Su Han approached, the disciple looked up, and Su Han showed him his sect token. The disciple took Su Han's token, verified it, finding no issues, that disciple allowed him to enter the library. Su Han wasted no time and immediately began studying the books.
After spending several hours reading, Su Han left the Sect's library and made his way back to his courtyard.
He learned a lot from the library. The world he was in is called the Ancient Desolate Realm. It is hundreds of times larger than Earth and is divided into seven continents and three wilderness areas. The continents are Celestial Azure Continent, Heavenly Blue Continent, Dark Zenith Continent, Divine Jade Continent, Sacred Moon Continent, Golden Flower Continent, and Mysterious Yellow Continent.
Some continents are separated by seas, while others are directly connected to each other.
The wildernesses, on the other hand, are surrounded by sea and are named after their locations, such as the South Wilderness, North Wilderness, and East Wilderness.
Cultivation in these wildernesses is very difficult, even reaching the Foundation Establishment Realm is akin to reaching the heavens. The reason for this difficulty was not found in the sect's library, likely because it is highly classified information which he cannot touch with his current level.
Despite the cultivation difficulties, these wildernesses are not abandoned. Many sects have established their bases there, for recruiting talented disciples from the wildernesses and bringing them back to continents where the sects' headquarters are located using teleportation array.
