Neriah silently waited for a response from him. The look in his eyes at first showed much doubt when she started out her lie, but by the end of it, she could not point out the exact expression on his face. She struggled within her to know if he believed her or not.
"So that is what happened?" He nods as though he had truly taken her words into consideration and believed her. Much to Neriah's peace of mind. He sat himself down on the table next to the chair she was seated upon and his hands slowly began to stroke her hair.
"Forgive me my love. I did not mean to sound so doubtful. I was just scared that I might have been losing you to him." He continued with his eyes downcast and his voice trembling.
