"Yukichi, no matter what happens to me, promise me that you'll keep on living, ok?" The man looks down at his daughter, and in response, the young girl looks up and smiles back at him.

It was the last good memory she could remember about her father before his death.
They were looking for food and medical supplies. And he was trapped on the side of the building that was filled with Aragamis when the roof collapsed, separating them, and hearing him screaming at her to run.
It's been three years since his death, and she's still plagued by nightmares of that memory of her father screaming and yelling at her to run and live.
"Listen to me, Yukichi, you need to go. Go east, go to Fenrir; you'll be safe there."
"No! I own go without you, Dad, there must be another way to get you out of there!"
"There's no time, Yukichi. Please, you need to go. Run Now!"
Walking through the rubble of a past building that once stood tall, looking up ahead, she sees the tall wall that protects Fenrir. "I'm finally here; I made it, Dad." Her thoughts were cut short when she heard the rumbling footstep of the Aragamis.
Quickly ran towards one of the rubbles to hide under, pulling her wagon behind her. She squeezes into the small opening and pulls her wagon right after.
Not long after, a small group of Aragamis walked in front of her hiding spot. Holding her breath, she watched as the ground of Aragamis walked past her. After a couple of minutes, Yukichi decided to take a look. Not seeing any Aragamis near her, she got out of her hiding spot and quickly walked towards the wall, careful not to attract any attention to her.
After a while, she sees a giant door and a couple of guards in front of it. "Hold it, you can't come in until tested to be a match to be a God Eater." That was the first thing one of the guards said to her, "And what happens if I'm not a match to be a God Eater?"
"Then we have to turn you away; I'm sorry." Pondering her situation, she decided to take the shot. "It looks like you're a match; we'll take you to the Den for further testing." The guards at the door of the giant wall take her to a truck and drive her to the Den.

"GO! RUN YUKICHI! LIVE!"
That's the last thing she remembers he told her—to run, to survive, to live. "Alright, look like you are compatible to be a New-Type," her voice pulled Yukichi out of her thoughts when she heard the older woman speak.
"Hibari informed the director that we found someone compatible to be a New-Type." The woman with red hair nodded and started typing on her computer in front of her.
"Follow me; I'll be taking you to where you'll be taking the aptitude test." The older woman's voice rang through again. Yukichi stood up and followed her, walking down the hall.
"Promise me that you'll live a long and happy life, ok, Yukichi."
"Don't worry, Dad; I made a promise, and I intend to keep it. I want to live, and I'll make sure your wishes come true too."
