"Your Highness, we heard you scream, what is it?" Three girls came rushing in, causing me to step back, tripping on the excessively lengthy white gown I was draped in, and falling on my butt with a pulp.
"What is it, is it a rat, a roach, what?" The girls asked looking around the room which made me crease my brows.
"Firstly, the most important question, why the hell are you dressed like that_ and who are you?" I asked, looking at the maid's attire on the girls, a mixture of white and black, it was long and had lace details, and their dress was clinched at their waists, coordinating apron with delicate ruffles and lace trim and a lace cap.
The girls glanced at each other and then glanced at me pitifully, "My lady, do you not remember us?"
"We have to be strong for Her Highness, the physician did say she might suffer amnesia,"
"Excuse me, what the hell is going on?" I waved my hands, demanding an answer at that moment.
"And who are you calling your Highness, I don't think I wanna rule over people dressed like that," I said, gazing at the girl's attire once again.
"We're your maids, I am Ria, this is Anne and this is Brita," The girl with the cutest facials said, and she had a voice that matched her looks.
"I have no idea, who you guys are, where am I?" I was about to step out but the girls obstructed my path.
"My lady, we apologize but you can not go out now," The girl who was introduced as Brita said, she looked daring.
"At least not dressed like that," Anne said.
I scoffed, "What?"
"Let me pass, you three little bitches," I said, trying to fight my way through, but the girls were hell-bent on stopping me. I got tired and pulled away while cursing.
I looked around and I saw a stick beside the bed, I took it and charged in on them, causing them to scatter while screaming at the top of their lungs. I caused them, not giving them a chance to catch their breaths and they kept dodging me.
"Your Highness what has gotten into you, you were always a well-mannered lady," Brita said as she dodged me.
"And gentle too,"
"Who are you guys, did you girls abduct me, who's your boss?" I asked, still chasing them.
"What is 'boss' ?"
"And what is 'abduct'?" They asked causing me to facepalm myself, oh they were good.
"How long have you been doing this, do you know who I am?" I asked.
"Yes, you're Princess Hazel, the one who brings mighty men to their feet, the distinct princess..."
"...Shut up, I am not Princess Hazel, I am Ariana Kiel!" I yelled and chased them harder causing them to scurry away, they were about to run out of the room. I was about to follow them out when a girl came in, She was black and very beautiful. Her hair was braided in two and she was wearing a blue dress unlike the other girls draped in white and black.
"What is all the ruckus about?" She asked her voice holding authority.
"It's Her Highness Miriam, she has gone insane,"
"Watch your tongue and don't you ever speak of her Highness that way," She commanded and they instantly bowed their heads.
"My apologies," They said in unison. I gazed at the girl, she looked feisty, I had a feeling we were going to get along just fine. But first I needed to get out of here.
"Who the hell are you?" I asked.
"That's what we were about to tell you court lady Miriam, Her highness has lost her memories, and she isn't behaving like she used to," Ria announced.
The Miriam girl stepped up to me and I stepped back a little. "Are you alright your Highness?" She asked, worry etched on her face.
I felt somewhat comfortable with her and like a beast tamed by its master, I nodded. She patted my head and then turned to the girls, "Leave us," She commanded and as if that was the order the girls were waiting for, they scurried away like rats, closing the door behind them.
"Here, have a seat," The girl said, ushering me to sit down on the bed and she sat beside me, stroking my hair.
"Your Highness, is it true you have lost your memories?" She asked and I creased my brows, unsure of what to say.
"Who are you?" She asked, finally, the question I've been waiting for someone to ask.
"I am Ariana Kiel," I responded and it was her turn to crease her brows.
"Who?" She asked and I almost scoffed.
"Ariana Kiel, the actress of Starlight Talent agency, at least I was but I got fired by my bosses who conspired against me and ruined my reputation, those dickheads..." The girl gasped, covering my mouth as she looked around.
"You shouldn't use such words, Your Highness, I didn't even know you knew that word, you were always so innocent and delicate that it became so annoying," Miriam said.
"Oh trust me I am not Delicate and I am not innocent, also I am not Your Highness, and if you please, point me to the way out of here," I replied.
"But this is your home, you grew up here and you've lived here your entire life, even when your family treated you poorly," Miriam said.
"What do you know about my family?" I asked.
"You must not remember, Your family despises you for being different, They said you're a curse, your silver locks, your eyes, and your pale skin, you are so different from them that they do not consider you as their child," Miriam said with a worried gaze, I froze for a while, that was the exact cast with me, except for the silverness part.
"Why am I here?" I asked.
"You--you..." She suddenly burst into tears.
"...Tell me, I what?" I asked.
"You..." The door was kicked open and a lady stepped in, upon seeing her Miriam instantly stood up and bowed slightly.
She was adorned in a luxurious flowing gown made of rich fabrics such as velvet and silk, embroidery, and gemstones, with a tiara. Wearing symbols such as necklaces, and bracelets, and her appearance exuded grace, regality, and authority.
"Your Majesty," Miriam greeted, but the woman paid no attention to her and walked up to me.
I could fathom the look in her gaze and it was disgust, she raised her hand and slapped me. My eyes widened as I placed my hand on my face.
I lived my gaze glaring at her, I was about to say something when I caught sight of Miriam behind the wench-like woman, gesturing and pleading for me to keep shut and so I did.
"Are you out of your mind, the maids reported to me you are causing a scene, haven't you embarrassed us enough by trying to commit suicide?" She asked, causing me to create my brows in confusion, wondering how they knew about that and what it had to do with them.
"What..."
"...Silence!" She exclaimed, causing me to jolt.
"Have you forgotten Hazel, you do not speak while I'm speaking," She said. "Aren't you going to apologize?"
"Apologize for what?" I asked, raising a brow.
"How dare you, You nightmare child," She was about to hit me again when Miriam's voice suddenly sounded in the room.
"Your Majesty, her mind has been in some sort of twist since she awakened, please pardon her until she is ready," Miriam pleaded, falling to her feet.
"Very well then," The woman said with a sigh, get her ready as soon as possible and bring her downstairs, our guests are waiting.
"Yes Your Majesty," Miriam responded, and the woman left, but not without shooting a deadly glare at me.
"Let me guess, that wench is supposed to be my mother, but she despises me because I'm different?" I asked still touching my face, feeling the pain set in. Miriam was silent and I took her silence to be yes.
I suddenly began to sob, "Your Highness," Miriam called, embracing me, I needed that.
"Does it hurt that much?" Miriam asked.
"I'm not hurt by the slap, I'm hurt because even if this is supposed to be my next life, I still have terrible and undeserving parents," I cried out, running my fingers through my hair.
"Next life?" Miriam asked.
"I tried to commit suicide before I woke up here,"
"We know, I was the one who rescued you," Miriam said.
"No, no... I'm not your princess Hazel, I'm Ariana, I tried to commit suicide as Ariana because my past life was hell, I suffered a lot, and a part of this looks so similar to what I went through," I said but Miriam kept looking at me like I was crazy.
"I jumped in that water and I saw this exact figure in the water with me and then we touched and then, I woke up in this godforsaken pl...Oh my God," I froze after realizing something.
"What is it?" Miriam asked.
"I--I transmigrated," I said and Miriam's brows creased even more, she wouldn't understand because she wasn't in my shoes, however, I was a low-key writer, I wasn't perfect but I wasn't stupid to not realize what happened.
"It seems the time I jumped in that river, was the exact time your princess Hazel jumped in too, and then since we touched, I was transported into her body and she into mine," I said, putting the pieces together.
"Hell, I didn't realize it was real until now," I said again, a smile forming on my face, in contrast to the tears I just shed a few minutes ago.
"I finally get to live a new life and as a princess, although Hazel's parents loathed her, I could still work something out, at least they didn't despise me to the extent of making me sleep in a dungeon, so I guess is have a chance," I whispered to myself and then turned to Miriam who had a worried look on her face.
"I think I should summon the physician," She said and was about to step out but I grabbed her hands, stopping her.
"No, wait... I'm perfectly fine," I said and flashed a smile.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yes, a hundred percent," I replied.
"Okay then, I should get you prepared for your wedding,"
"Wait, what?" I asked.
"To the cold-hearted demon king," She replied and I collapsed.
