Gu Xijue stepped into the royal palace once more, but his state of mind was vastly different from a few months ago.
He hadn't even entered the palace when a sharp female voice suddenly sounded from behind him.
"Xijue!"
Zhao Ying, sitting in the car, spotted a familiar figure that resembled her son, but she wasn't sure at first; it was only after getting closer that she dared to confirm it.
"Gu Xijue, stop right there!"
Zhao Ying called out. Noticing that Gu Xijue seemed not to have heard, and kept walking straight ahead, she immediately called out again.
Gu Xijue turned around and his expression changed slightly upon seeing Zhao Ying.
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
Zhao Ying, seeing it was indeed her son, quickly walked over to him.
