Si Yuchen appeared at the right moment, grabbing Gu Xiaonuan's arm and pulling her to his side.
"There's no need to be so estranged when you talk to mom. It's like we're strangers meeting for the first time after years apart, how much more do you want to hurt mom's heart!"
Gu Xiaonuan was again subjected to a thorough scolding by Si Yuchen.
She looked up at the elderly grandmother, "Mom?"
No way? Gu Xiaonuan probably found that the old lady could be their very own grandmother, so how could it be her and Si Yuchen's turn to call her "Mom"?
"It's still Han who stands by my side. My own daughter, however, feels like a stranger."
The elderly grandmother looked at Gu Xiaonuan, clearly not as pleased with her as she was with Yuchen.
But listening to this, Gu Xiaonuan picked up on some clues.
She was the "daughter" that the old lady couldn't warm up to, whereas to the old lady, Si Yuchen was an existence even more important than a daughter.
The answer...was obvious!
