Ryu imagined that the tier levels determined their relative effectiveness against threats of a similar level but was also concerned as this implied that the zombies and mutated life forms running around likely wouldn't remain as tier 1 forever. This was a serious concern if true, especially since he had no information to go off to try and figure out how quickly beings can "Tier up" for lack of a better term.

He would need to keep an eye out and make use of his ability to see basic information about the things he looks at in order to see when he starts finding Tier 2s and up. This will at least allow him to make a rough guess on how long it could take and plan better for the future.

Ryu settled back in his bed and was idly looking through the items has had gained and was mildly amused to see that the early warning trap system was really just a heavy duty fishing line connected to a bunch of tin cans that could be strung across openings so when something hit the line it would cause the cans to clank together. It was like something out of the cartoons he watched as a small child really.

The drone system was interesting and the system information stated that he could store up to 3 spells casts of his spells into the device to be used remotely by the drone while he was controlling it. The drone also had a range of 10 km which seemed fairly high for such a small drone but when he saw that it was powered by ambient magic in the environment he felt it made more sense that it was so powerful.

The boots, pants, and shirt he got would be useful enough when he needed to venture into areas to explore in the future as they stated they were cut resistant but this also applied to claw attacks and bites. They were all designed to stand up to fairly dangerous situations as long as the enemies facing him were Tier 1. They were not, however, a substitute for actual armor of some kind and Ryu wouldn't treat them as if they were.

The food 3d printer was actually really interesting as it came programmed with several meal options for breakfasts, lunches, and dinners such as bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwiches. The best part was that the "raw materials" needed to create the food came in a single simple paste form that was preloaded into the machine and would provide 2500 calories a day worth of food for 30 days. He did need to add water daily, as the food paste was apparently dehydrated, but that was such a small concern compared to having a device that he can set on a table, the size of an air fryer, that could make delicious and nutritious meals in minutes.

The water filtration unit was also about the same size and could pour any water based liquid into it and within a few minutes the device would dispense clean and purified drinking water. According to the instruction label on the back of the device it used a special technology to remove biological matter first, then minerals and chemicals, and finally it would perform a targeted teleportation of any remaining dangerous materials to another dimension. The worse the quality of the water input into the machine, the less drinkable water would be dispensed.

If I put in water from a toilet bowl or toilet storage tank that was "clean" it would quickly give me back about the same amount that I put in, while if I used muddy water from outside an area struck by a nuclear missile I would get back a third or less of what I put in. Ryu was also pleasantly surprised to find that the materials removed from the water were what actually powered the machine itself.

The hunting crossbow was exactly what you might think, a simple crossbow that you could find in nearly any hunting store in the US, while the ammunition supply crates were actually another type of 3d printing technology. When you set the crate down and hit the open button a small touch screen would pop up asking you what type of ammunition you wanted. You could scan in ammo you had on hand, describe the ammo to the machine verbally, or browse the massive database installed on the device to select what types of ammunition you wanted and it would then tell you how much it could produce with onboard material stocks.

If Ryu only wanted regular old 9mm FMJ pistol rounds then the supply box could make him 2000 rounds. If he wanted a mix of 12 gauge slugs and 9mm FMJ rounds then he would get 250 slugs and 1000 9mm rounds. It was a fairly easy to use system and flexible as well except that you had to choose what ammo you wanted before using it and it would fully use its supplies, making it a disposable single use item. You couldn't make 50 rounds today and then 50 more another day, nor could you reload the box with materials but considering the technology Ryu assumed there would be ammunition 3d printers as an option later on anyways.

The tier 2 battle pet was kind of lackluster in his eyes as the system details only showed that he could gain a random pet from across the multiverse that would be 100% loyal but that he would need to take care of AND that any kills it made did not share experience with him as the owner. Knowing that leveling quickly to gain power was his best chance of survival Ryu didn't think he would be using this item any time soon but there was nothing saying he couldn't trade it to someone else for something that would help him better.

The combat suit was interesting as the note states it had been designed as a type of daily wear survival suit used by security forces in many apocalypse worlds. It was basically a zip up jumpsuit that was decently resistant to fire, acid, poison, electricity, and physical damage while also having built in medical supply dispensers and a light weight internal exoskeleton system that would reduce physical exertions while increasing the users movement speed over longer distances.

The Tier 4 rewards were where things got really exciting for Ryu however as these items were things that he knew were not really available in his world. He knew that his world had exosuit and combat armor options that would be similar to the suit and he could find other sources for food, water, and ammunition but these Tier 4 options were just BROKEN.

Tier 4 Magical Focus Ring

Designed and created by the System to support your Unique class. While worn this ring doubles all per tick healing and damage amounts while also allowing the user to learn new periodic spells by observing the skill use of enemies and other users.

Tier 4 Summonable Companion

The System understands that your fragile minds may need reliable and loyal companionship to face the coming challenges and trials so it created this companion summon item. The user may select several options such as what multiverse they want their companion to be copied from, what species they would prefer, what sex the companion is, and what age range they would like their companion to be when summoned. This summon is 100% loyal to the user and will spawn with their own system as well as their own class. If the companion is a combat class they can be added to your party, with no negative penalties as they don't count as an actual user, to share the exp they earn while you share yours with them. If the companion is a non-combat class then they are simply stored by the system into a special companion space whenever you enter combat and can be re-summoned five minutes after combat ends.

Ryu, being a gamer, otaku, weeb, nerd, geek, and just about any other tag you could label onto someone who made their living on the internet and was also heavily involved in such hobby based pursuits, knew that this companion was going to be something he would have to VERY carefully think about. Oh Ryu had girlfriends in the past, and he wouldn't die a virgin should the worst happen, but most of the girls he had been with either wanted to change him after they got together or were simply trying to use him to raise their own clout on the internet as well so the relationships rarely lasted very long. This companion however could be the chance to not only gain a companion who would always have his back but would also allow him to live out at lease some of his "man of culture" based fantasies.

Ryu thought about simply using the companion summon now, but he was tired and knew that he needed to focus on sleep now, survival tomorrow, and then once he gets a better handle on this whole apocalypse thing he can revisit trying to summon a girl of his dreams. He did go ahead and slip on the Magical Focus Ring however as that would have strong benefits anytime he cast or saw others using skills. He already had healing spells ticking away on him keeping him healthy forever basically but if he could see some bruisers using damage reduction skills or rogues using skills to hide or reduce aggro… well those would make some fine additions to his spell repertoire as well!

Ryu was finally done with everything that he imagined he needed to take care of now so his eyes slowly closed as he faded away into a well earned rest.
