Traveling the desert is no easy feat. It can't be done on a whim, as it requires a degree of planning and preparation for a long journey where there is no guarantee that one might come across food or water.
People usually avoided traveling alone if they had the choice. Moving in a large group was safer out there and it meant more rations to share around before reaching the next stop.
Few daring souls would venture on their own.
Frankly speaking, and with the knowledge that they had very few stops on their way, Zarqa expected they would run into some kind of trouble or another. But her worries were uncalled for.
Even when they ran out of food and water, her two companions were more than capable of providing more for them.
