Zarqa swallowed hard as she willed her heart to slow down. It was all but audible throughout the whole tomb.
When she finally managed to get her mouth to do anything but scream, she looked down at the man clutching into her like a lifeline and shivering with his eyes squeezed shut, as if by not seeing what could endanger him, he could survive it.
" I thought you've gone back," she mused, trying to coax him off her. It took several attempts to pry his tight grasp of her and even more convincing him that he was neither dead nor haunted.
" I was about to," he admitted shamefully. " When I reached upstairs, I remembered I was still in position of your satchel. And as I turned to give it back, I found, um…" he held out the scroll in his hand and lowered his eyes to the ground. Zarqa understood it.
But then a question popped up in her mind.
