Chapter 87 - Chapter 87: Expired

Sorry, I fell asleep and forgot to schedule the chap.

Enjoy!

---

Karasuma explained why they tried to hire him to teach the class that Korosensei was currently teaching, Class E of Kunugigaoka Junior High School.

The main reason was that the government wanted as many ways to kill Korosensei as possible.

After hearing how Korosensei was literally at his mercy for his food, Karasuma told Tsuna about how the government wanted him to teach the cooking class and possibly get the students to get their hands on Korosensei's life...

...through his stomach.

"..."

Tsuna felt slightly speechless at this, knowing that just learning how to cook in such a short time probably wouldn't get them anywhere near having some control over Korosensei's stomach at all.

"But..."

His eyes turned into dollar signs, considering the profit that might come with this opportunity.

"...I'm interested to hear your offer. So, what will I get from this?"

Tsuna smiled with his eyes closed, which made Karasuma furrow his eyebrows in discomfort.

Shaking off the unease, Karasuma spoke, "Well, since you're basically being hired as a part-time teacher, you'd be paid an hourly wage of 15,000 yen, which is close to five times the hourly wage of a normal teacher. What do you think?"

"Whoa, that's quite a lot, Tsuna! Imagine you taught the class for 4 hours—you'd be getting 60,000 yen!"

Soma exclaimed, unable to hold back his surprise.

That was almost $400 in four hours!

Karasuma smiled, feeling confident that Tsuna would take the offer, especially given the high pay.

However...

"...Are you taking me for a fool?"

Tsuna's expression darkened as he narrowed his eyes at Karasuma.

"...?"

This made Soma blink his eyes in surprise at Tsuna's apparent dissatisfaction with the offer.

Even Karasuma and Korosensei were taken aback by this, as Karasuma's smile disappeared while Korosensei looked on with interest, his tentacles squirming slightly.

Seeing they both seemed oblivious to why he was dissatisfied, Tsuna sighed before pulling up his phone while explaining, "Do you know where I'm studying right now? Totsuki Academy. In the academy, there is this group called the Elite Ten Council, which is currently holding an event in which I'm participating..."

"...I've heard of the academy. I know it is a prestigious culinary school, but what does that have to do with my offer?"

Karasuma frowned, deepening his confusion.

Tsuna shrugged his shoulders before adding, "It has everything to do with your offer. Since I've reached the semi-finals, it's clear I'm among the top 8 freshmen of the year, with a high chance of replacing them."

"Ah, now that you explain it, I guess we're among the top 8 students at the moment," Soma blinked, realizing he had been oblivious to these facts.

"Bu--"

Karasuma was about to ask a question when Tsuna stopped him, "I'm not done yet..."

"...Alright, go on."

"Now you know about my background, let me show you the price if you want to hire one of the Elite Ten Council..."

Being a member of the Elite Ten Council of Totsuki Culinary Academy greatly enhances one's personal brand, showcasing their skill and prestige in the culinary world.

Their rates are well-known and even available online.

And as Tsuna then showed his phone to Karasuma.

"I want to take a look as well..."

Korosensei and Soma were pretty curious as they leaned in to take a look as well.

Then...

"Huh...?"

Their eyes nearly fell out of their sockets in shock as they all exclaimed, "NANI! $50,000 just to appear in the media!?"

That was like 8 million yen, an astronomical amount!

Korosensei's expression turned blue in shock, his tentacles stiffening as he looked at Tsuna in disbelief, "N-no way, are you asking for the same price?"

"...!"

These words made both Karasuma and Soma turn toward Tsuna with questioning eyes, one in shock and the other in amazement.

Soma blinked his eyes as he mumbled to himself, "...Should I start doing promotions like Tsuna as well?"

It seemed to Soma that Tsuna's shameless promotions throughout the semester were paying off, seeing that he even got such an offer.

On the other hand, Karasuma silently felt a headache brewing at the thought of reporting this to his superiors, knowing he'd definitely have a hard time explaining things.

He sighed while quietly thinking, "8 million yen would be way out of budget..."

Thankfully, Tsuna shook his head and chuckled, "Nah, don't worry about that. I know my personal brand isn't as well-known as those in the council..."

"T-thank god..."

Both Karasuma and Korosensei seemed relieved at this. However...

"So, since I'm still a freshman, I think 8 million yen would be too pricey. And especially since I'm doing a favor to the government by taking this on..."

Tsuna smiled widely with his eyes closed as he added, "I'll give you a 43.75% discount and only take 4.5 million yen."

"T-that's still a lot of money to teach."

Karasuma put his hand on his chin, his mind racing as he considered Tsuna's offer.

Tsuna had phrased it in a way that made it seem reasonable, and Karasuma, being somewhat gullible, felt a sense of relief, "But I guess I'd be able to explain it better to my superior like this..."

"No, let me finish..."

"Huh?"

"It'd be 4.5 million yen per session."

"...!"

Everyone's eyes went wide, their jaws nearly dropping at those words as they all looked at Tsuna in disbelief.

However, Tsuna couldn't care less. His smile turned into a sly grin as he silently muttered, "I'd be doubling my net worth with this one..."

"Per session? Are you serious?"

Karasuma felt a bead of sweat trickles down his temple.

"I mean, it's fine if you don't want to. It's not like I want it in the first place," Tsuna shrugged, his nonchalance almost convincing.

"Besides, I've given you a considerable discount out of respect. Though I understand it's a hard decisio—"

"I'll get back to you later," Karasuma said, lightly massaging his forehead as he felt his headache growing stronger.

He and Korosensei bid their farewell, leaving Tsuna and Soma behind.

Tsuna watched them disappear down the alleyway as Soma turned to him and asked, "Do you think they'll hire you?"

"They will..."

Tsuna smirked, making Soma chuckle.

As Tsuna had expected, Karasuma returned the next day and tried to bargain about the fee which Tsuna 'reluctantly' agreed to 4 million yen per session, giving Karasuma a sense of relief.

Tsuna's expression remained stony, but dollar signs practically sparkled in his pupils.

With that, Tsuna found himself making his way toward the infamous Kunugigaoka Junior High School during the day.

He could see that the school looked prestigious, with its magnificent buildings, but he was not heading inside.

Instead, Tsuna walked to the side, toward the thick forest.

He hiked up a hill, eventually finding a small, abandoned-looking building—the place where he would be teaching this time.

The building was humble, a stark contrast to the grandiose buildings Tsuna had seen earlier.

Soma's ragged voice broke the silence, "...How come you didn't even sweat? And why am I here again?"

"You said you wanted an answer about your hot pot last time, so I told you where I'd be going, didn't I?"

"...I guess."

Soma sighed in response as they made their way toward the building's entrance, eventually finding the teacher's room right across from it.

As they stepped inside, a loud, dissatisfied voice immediately greeted them, "Huh? Who are you people?"

Turning towards the source, Tsuna and Soma saw a foreign woman with wavy, hip-length blonde hair split down the middle.

"Her figure is definitely top-notch, but what's this strange feeling?"

Tsuna frowned as he somehow sensed something peculiar about the curvy foreigner who seemed to match every item on his mental checklist as he scrutinized her up and down.

"W-what are you doing!?"

Sensing his stare, the foreigner immediately covered her chest in defense while her face turned red.

However, Tsuna didn't seem to care about her reaction as his gaze locked on the magnificent twin mountains with a massive bakery at their base.

Yet, upon closer inspection, a sense of disappointment washed over him as he realized why he had this strange feeling while looking at her.

His expression couldn't help but sour as he spat, "So that's why, you're fucking expired..."

"PARDON!?"
