Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Contest Between Intuition and Calculation

In a hidden corner at the edge of the garbage mountain, two mechs silently hid behind a pile of garbage, their target being six Starhill guinea pigs foraging for food a hundred meters away. These little creatures were alertly rummaging through the garbage in search of food while watching for windy movements in the surroundings. After carefully observing his surroundings, Matthew briefly exchanged with the Dawnbreaker.

Matthew cautiously piloted the Wendy mech and slowly approached the Starhill guinea pig. He skillfully used the various piles of trash as cover, gradually shortening the distance from his target. At about thirty meters from the star dolphin, he stopped for the time being, secretly grateful that everything had gone well.

However, a sudden gust of wind blew toward the Starhill Guinea Pig from behind Matthew. Matthew screamed in his heart that it was not good; he immediately increased Wendy's speed to the maximum and rushed towards the panicked Starhill Guinea Pig.

Wendy was like a discharged cannonball, sprinting towards the target. Unfortunately, due to the wind's early warning, the Starhill guinea pigs with a keen sense of smell had already sensed the danger, and they scattered and fled, disappearing into the garbage.

Matthew quickly adjusted his strategy and locked onto one of the Starhill guinea pigs in hot pursuit. He knew that it would be extremely difficult to find them again once he let these little guys burrow into the complicated garbage. Therefore, he paid no attention to the other four guinea pigs and chased the locked target with full concentration.

With the wind whistling in his ears, Matthew's blood boiled, his heartbeat accelerated, and every breath he took became extremely difficult. However, he tried to remain calm, his hands steadily maneuvering the Wendy mech. He felt his world gradually become slow and clear as if time was stretched.

Suddenly, Wendy violently threw a dagger, accurately stabbing the ground in front of the Starhill Guinea Pig. However, the little creature displayed amazing agility and survival instincts. With a twist of its body, it skillfully avoided the dagger's sharpness, and then, with the strength of its legs, it leaped up and lunged toward Wendy's neck.

"With a soft sound, the Starhill guinea pig's two front leg paws were instantly pierced through by the sharp barbs on Wendy's knee joints. At the same time, its abdomen was also cut open with a deep wound, and its hind legs were also left with several shocking scars.

In such a harsh environment as the Garbage Star, such serious injuries almost pronounced the death sentence for this starhill guinea pig. However, it did not give up struggling and resisting. It used its last strength to open its sharp teeth and bite at Wendy. The teeth that flashed with a cold light seemed to be able to bite through all metals, and it wanted to leave a final deep mark on its enemy.

However, Matthew didn't give it this chance. He quickly maneuvered Wendy to dodge the dying counterattack of the Starhill Guinea Pig and then completely ended the battle. Looking at the Star Mound Guinea Pig that fell in a pool of blood, Matthew took a deep breath as a complex emotion surged in his heart. He knew that survival was the only law in the Garbage Star's cruel battlefield.

Driven by its obsessive belief, the Starhill Guinea Pig seemed to have found its soul, and it gave up its life and forgot about death to burst out its full life force! This strike, it was convinced that it was its sharpest strike ever!

The distance was getting closer and closer, and the enemy's neck was becoming clearer and clearer in its eyes. The Starhill guinea pig began to get excited! Just a second, no, half a second would be enough! Just half a second, and it could pull off the most glorious, brilliant strike of its life!

Its eyes were burning! Flaming with the passion of life!

However, all of a sudden, the flames in its eyes suddenly went out!

A knife noiselessly lifted from below, as if it had not encountered any obstacles, and cut this Starhill Guinea Pig in two! In an instant, blood and entrails showered like rain, splashing a few specks of dust on the rust-red ground.

Matthew finally calmed down!

He looked up and realized that the Dawnbreaker was silently watching him from a distance away. An eight-meter-long titanium pole also had a Starhill guinea pig hanging from it. The Dawnbreaker's fight could be much simpler, a Starhill Guinea Pig was fleeing exactly where Matthew had originally stood, and this Starhill Guinea Pig, without the slightest bit of preparation, didn't have any chance to react under the Dawnbreaker's attack was almost accurate to light seconds.

Matthew waved his hand to the Dawnbreaker from a distance and greeted, "Hi!"

Then he crouched down and picked up the two pieces of the Starhill guinea pig's body on the ground!

Matthew proudly boasted to Dawnbreaker, "How was it? My skills aren't bad, are they!"

However, Dawnbreaker commented without mercy, "Poorly!"

Matthew froze on the spot and retorted furiously, "What? Poorly? You're not mistaken, are you?"He was very annoyed that others had evaluated his most confident side so unforgivingly.

Dawnbreaker however, did not intend to restrain himself as he continued, "Other than fighting skills that can barely be considered moderate, your flying skills, shooting skills, and tactical literacy are all extremely rough. Practical combat experience cannot be judged due to insufficient information!"

"Impossible!"Matthew stared wide-eyed with an incredulous expression.

Dawnbreaker shrugged with an indescribably comical and odd look, "Of course, the chance of an error in judgment is 0.7%!"

Matthew argued unconvincingly, "You must be jealous of me to hit me like this deliberately!"

Dawnbreaker, however, said without wavering, "There is no such possibility!"

Matthew unwillingly continued, "Then it must be because the mech I'm piloting is too old, haha, that must be it. Why don't I try piloting you one day?"

The Dawnbreaker paused for a moment and asked with a somewhat strange voice, "There are a total of twenty-seven slits; how did you know that one would pass through where I am?"

Matthew laughed triumphantly, "Hey, hey, awesome! Intuition!"

"Intuition?"Dawnbreaker's electronic eyes snapped, "Not enough information to calculate it!"

Matthew snorted, "Calculate? If it can be calculated, then is it still called intuition?"

Dawnbreaker said calmly, "It's just a small probability of an event occurring!"

"What? Do you mean to say that I happened by chance? Was it by luck?"Matthew exclaimed in exasperation, "I told you ..."

The two figures grew longer and longer in the reflection of the stars about to fall below the horizon. The towering spire of Matthew's family's pulse relay station was visible in the distance, like a signpost pointing Matthew home all the time.
