Chapter 1 - Cases

The silence of the night was shattered by the thunderous crash of the door splintering under the force of the officers' entry. "POLICE!! GET ON THE GROUND!" echoed through the building, accompanied by a menacing, persistent ringing sound, Rrring Rrring Rrirring. Amidst the chaos, confusion reigned among the armed squad as they struggled to comprehend the scene unfolding before them.

"Gomez, locate the source of that ringing noise. Jones, contact the morgue and arrange for a team to collect the bodies. Tara, Mcliff, and Guerrera, upstairs, now. Search for any... surprises," commanded the captain, his voice cutting through the commotion like a knife.

Alone in the main room on the first floor, the captain's gaze fell upon a familiar insignia, hauntingly present for the third time. "Three cases, but why? What links these disparate crimes? Four cases, three states, two different methods, yet two snakeheads, entwined in a chilling embrace," he mused, the weight of the mystery pressing down upon him.

The first crime, the murder of a corporate executive, was meticulously erased from existence. No witnesses, no evidence, only silence. The second is the grisly demise of a former gangster, his car riddled with bullets and cryptic documents bearing the same sinister emblem.

Two murders, one pristine, the other chaotic, yet both sharing a common thread—a macabre display of power, executed in broad daylight, leaving no room for doubt or mercy.

As the clock struck midnight, the captain pondered the enigma before him. Random acts of violence, or carefully orchestrated chaos? Two theories entwined like the snakeheads on the vase, each more confounding than the last.

"Code and verification number," intoned the machine, its mechanical voice piercing the silence. "ESCROW-Q25-8662," confirmed the captain, his resolve unwavering.

"Confirmed, welcome. Criminal Investigator Paul Cross," echoed the machine, its tone reminiscent of a mocking parrot's laughter.

With a sense of urgency, the captain dispatched a report detailing the suspected motives of the case designated as U-G:12 to Command Chief Corbant, marked with special designation 2, for his eyes only. The shadows of the mystery deepened, enveloping him in their chilling embrace as he awaited orders in the darkness.
