Chapter 8 - Crestwood

Andy headed straight to Crestwood from Cody's headquarters, making only a brief stop to refuel his vehicle.

The road trip from Willow Spring to Crestwood is roughly 150 kms, as he drove his thoughts were consumed by the memory of the first picture Mrs Cody had shown him and where it was captured.

At the last gas station close to his destination, he took a break lighting up a cigarette, he headed to the restroom. He took the opportunity to stretch his legs after a long drive.

Returning to his car, he examined the pictures again and noticed something like a hotel sign at the far end.

Picking up his phone, he contemplated calling the hotel to inquire, after much deliberation, he used a google map instead to search for hotels with names similar to the one he observed on the sign.

Given his uncertainty, he decided to cast a wider net on google, exploring hotels with variations of the name he saw to increase his chances of finding the right one.

Andy excitement bubbled up as he exclaimed,"perfect" upon discovering the hotel,

It turns out the hotel is a five-star establishment situated in a prime location in Crestwood.

Called Opulent Crest Residence. He excitedly discarded his cigarette, and eagerly drove towards the place.

When he got to the hotel he handed his keys to the valet for parking, with a regal demeanor, Andy walked in exuding confidence and a sense of majesty,he did this to gain the attention of a concierge, who quickly approached him to offer assistance and ensure a seamless experience during his stay, of course he knew what he was doing, responding with a gracious smile, he acknowledged the concierge's attention as he continued to the front desk.

Good evening, I'd like to check in, please.

Good evening! Of course, do you have a reservation?

Reservation? Uh, no, I didn't make one. A friend mentioned he booked a room for me.

I see. Can I have your name please?

It's Andy Peter.

.

Let me check…..I am sorry, but there's no reservation under that name. When was the reservation made?

He mentioned it recently. I'm not sure about the exact date.

I'm afraid I can't find any recent reservation under this name...

Are you sure it is in our hotel?

Looking puzzled, this is the place; he described perfectly

Could you check again please?.

Or maybe under a different name, "what about under the name John Johnson?"

The receptionist regretfully mention "We are sorry Mr John Johnson hasn't been here for a while"

Curious to pinpoint his timing, "when was John Johnson reservation made?"

She furrows her brows and looks into the system just to confirm, then she answers " that was hmmm "five years ago, he made a reservation for one month but only spent 3 days.

Surprised by the information, "five years ago? And he left after three days? Wow.

And he hasn't made any other reservation after then?

"That is correct, Mr John Johnson didn't make any other reservation after that time"..

Few moments later

He pretended to make a call and came back

What about under the name Cody, I think he used that name.

Sure, let me see... ah, here we go. We have a reservation under the name Mrs Cody. is that the one?

Mrs Cody? Yes that must be it! Can you tell me the details?

Certainly. Mrs Cody's reservation is for a deluxe suite with a city view. Would you like to proceed with this reservation?

Yes, please.That sounds perfect.

Wonderful! Let me just get some details from you, and you'll be all set for a delightful stay.

In his room, he pulled out his checklist he made on his way here, scanning it for possible places he will visit for "John's whereabouts" and places he has visited. With the hotel check marked off, he pondered on the next step in his search.

Opting for wine selection he chose a fine Merlot from the hotel's selection, a Chateau Royale, crafted in the year 2018. He sat in a polished mahogany desk, soft jazz playing in the background, Andy swirled in a deep red wine in a crystal glass. The dimly lit room revealed a contemplative expression, and each sip seemed to unlock another layer of intricate puzzle, blending the taste of the fine wine and the pursuit of answers. Considering the pictures as valuable clues, he prioritized golf courses in his list, confident that they might hold the key to finding John.

Wrapping up his work, Andy told himself I deserve a hearty meal, he packed his documents, closing the files with a determined air.

He called for room reservices and ordered a good meal. He decided to unwind and enjoy a bit of relaxation, knowing that tomorrow would be a busy day.

With a sense of accomplishment, he selected a gourmet spread, aiming to savor the flavors of success while contemplating the next steps in the ongoing investigation….

After such a productive day.

What I need next is a good bath….

He entered the bathroom humming a patriotic song of the marines, the soft glow from a nearby lightning casting a gentle light on the tiled floor. Closing the door behind him.

The rhythmic sound of running water echoed as he turned the faucet, adjusting the temperature to his liking.

Stepping onto a plush bath mat, he took off his shoes one at a time, the soft thud echoing in the quiet space. now in a state of contemplation, loosened his tie, allowing it to fall gracefully onto the bathroom counter. With deliberate movements, he unclasped his watch and set it beside the tie.

Finally, he stood in the shower, the warmth of the water inviting. As he stepped into the soothing embrace of the bath, the day's tensions seemed to dissolve, leaving behind a moment of solitude and reflection.

He indulged in a rejuvenating bath, letting the warm water wash away the complexities of the case. The scent of lavender filled the air, creating a moment of tranquility before he resumed his strategic planning for the challenges ahead. One thing Andy finds hard to do during a case is sleep. Occasionally, he struggles to get a good night's sleep. Because he invests his mind, body, and soul into every case he works on.
