August 1994
4 Privet Drive
It was the last day before Harry would be returning to Hogwarts and today, he was going to deal with the Dursleys.
Initially he was focused on taking revenge against Dursleys for what they had did to him. But over the month, maturity had struck Harry.
For now Harry realised that the Dursleys were not completely at fault.
They considered themselves to be a complete normal family and wanted to stay away from all the 'freakiness.' He very well understood Petunia's hatred towards magic.
But Dumbledore never cared for their opinion and simply dumped an infant at their gates without any discussion or warning.
Even though Harry had never had a true family, he could very well imagine the negative effects if a stranger intrudes a family and occupy their private space.
Harry could also understand their reactions on his accidental magic, specially, when they were aware of what it was but could do nothing.
Harry had also had the goblins thoroughly investigate if the Dursleys had ever received any monetary expenses for Harry's upbringing from Dumbledore. From the investigations he found that they had never received a single penny.
At the moment Harry could deal with Dursleys as he wished.
He could have simply made them disappear with the power and influence he wielded or inflict on them all kind of torture.
Even though Harry still hated them, he chose neither of these.
For he was son of the kind and compassionate Lily Potter and Petunia was her last living relative.
He arrived at door and rang the doorbell.
A grunt was heard and a fat boy opened the door.
"Hello Dudley," smiled Harry.
"Mom, Dad, the freak is here," shouted Dudley.
Harry's temper rose but he kept calm and walked inside the house. Dudley tried to intimidate him in staying out, but he was no old Harry.
A simple glare of his glowing green eyes and Dudley was out of his way.
Harry was already inside the hall when Petunia and Vernon came out of their room.
"What are you doing here freak? I thought you were being punished for using magic outside school? Is your punishment over?" Vernon almost screamed.
A realisation dawned Harry and he chuckled, "No uncle. I was not being punished. I simply went to where I should have been from the beginning."
He eyed the couple and said, "Please seat down. We should talk out like civilised people."
With this Harry took his seat on one of the sofas.
Vernon glared at Harry but ultimately took seat on the opposite sofa.
Harry started, "To be honest I could understand why you would treat me in such manner. But even so the beatings I received and the bullying Dudley did could never be unacceptable. Afterall whatever happened, I had no role to play. I did not even understand what I did wrong. I hate you and there is no changing that."
Vernon's glare only intensified but Harry caught Petunia flinching at his last words.
He continued, "Recently I discovered a lot of things. I am rich...extremely rich. I am powerful... extremely powerful. I wanted to take revenge and do worse of what you did to me but in, however despicable manner, you still provided for me for 11 years. You are my mother's last living relative."
Harry sighed and continued, "You know about the person that killed my parents and, to inform you, that war is not completely over. I would be putting myself at the centre of the war and as my relatives you could be targeted."
Vernon shouted, "What do you mean freak? We have nothing to do with your wars."
Harry chuckled, "Well when they will come for you, I doubt they would even allow you to speak. And I am in no mood to argue."
Harry cut off Vernon whatever he was trying to say, "I am here you to offer you a choice. Whatever you choose and whatever happens to you would all be your decision. But this is the last time I am visiting here."
With this Harry pulled a file from his coat and placed it on the table.
Vernon grunted as he picked up the file, "What is this?"
Harry chuckled in amusement, "As I told you I am extremely rich and I made a purchase. A small company, you know, Grunnings."
Petunia stared at him wide eyed, while Vernon rapidly tried to search for the proper documents.
Harry continued, "The offer is that if you decide to leave England and get a transfer into Grunnings' subsidiary at New York, you can get an increment in your salary while retaining your same position. A house of the same size of 4 Privet Drive will be provided near to the office. Also 10% of company's shares would be transferred onto Aunt Petunia's name. Otherwise, you could decide to stay here if you wish."
Vernon took few minutes to go through all the documents and found them to be accurate as Harry had described.
Harry said, "You have 3 days to decide. If you wish to take up the offer, simply go to your office and hand over the file to your chairman. He will see to your arrangements. Otherwise burn that file."
With this he got up and walked up to leave the house.
He was about to exit the house when he heard Petunia.
She sobbed, "Harry... You know I never hated magic. Lily was my best friend but when she discovered magic and I was left alone...I was jealous. I also wanted to be special... I even wrote to your school to accept me...."
She continued while sobbing, "Lily was so kind. Even after all my hatred and jealousy she continued to care for me till the end... she contacted me before she went into hiding..."
She cried louder, "I pleaded her... begged her to leave the dammm country. I knew James was rich. I asked her to go away. I wanted my sister alive but she would not listen to me. She said she cannot leave. She promised me that she would be safe."
She continued, "I lost my sister that day. Maybe I should have treated you better but past cannot be changed... I never hated you Harry... I was jealous... maybe even with you... maybe I wanted you to stay away from that dammm world... I don't know."
Her crying continued, "You are right in hating us. We will be leaving this country. If possible, meet us or write to us once in a while. Bye Harry."
Harry gave a stiff nod and vanished from the house.
[I know many of you will not agree with me, by letting go of them without any punishment. But I think I have made my reasons clear in the chapter itself. For those who don't agree you can assume any punishment you want for them... as they would not be making any more appearance in the story]
