Chapter 50 - Potions (2)

September 1994

Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry

In the next few minutes, the trio of Harry, Daphne and Tracey collected their required ingredients and found a suitable place for themselves to start brewing.

Potions was a subject which Harry had dreaded for 3 years but now after all the changes and the new knowledge he had, Harry loved the subject. The whole summer vacation Harry had practiced and brewed all different kind of potions, which were much more advanced than what he would ever learn in Hogwarts.

But fortunately or unfortunately, Harry did not need to flaunt his new skills as Daphne and Tracey were also very well versed in the subject and they had started the process without any difficulty, leaving Harry idle.

"The new information which you mentioned, is it about your family?" Questioned Daphne.

Harry nodded in response.

Daphne asked back, "This means that you are admitting that you did not know about your family?"

Harry smiled, "Other than their name, I knew nothing."

Though Daphne was expecting this kind of answer, she was still taken back by surprise on hearing it.

For now Harry trusted no one and he was only trying to fish in uncertain waters and learn about the characters of Greengrass

The two of them then turned silent and started to pay attention to their brewing. The potions class was definitely not a very convenient place to talk about many things.

For the remainder of the class, they remained silent. Snape as usual was busy in targeting the Gryffindors and as usual Neville made a mistake and blew up his cauldron.

Harry could definitely see a small smile of satisfaction on Snape's face when Neville blew up his cauldron.

On the other hand, be it his own decision of Dumbledore's order or his working with Slytherins, Snape restrained himself from making any snarky remark against Harry.

Harry was satisfied and content to be left alone.

The class was about to come to an end and they were in the final process of their brewing, when Harry questioned, "Tell, me Miss. Greengrass, why did none of the member of the alliance tried to approach me?"

Daphne frowned at the question and she stared at him like he was an idiot.

Harry felt a bit uncomfortable from the icy glare of ice queen of the Slytherins.

Ultimately, she sighed, "Things are not as simple as you may assume Potter."

This was something that Harry knew. From the conversation between Daphne and Tracey he had heard on the train, he knew that at least the Greengrass Family would have wanted to reinstate the alliance, but he was puzzled about why no one approached him.

Daphne continued, "You would need a small history and political lesson regarding this, if you want to understand things from our perspective."

Harry nodded and she further added, "And hopefully, you would hear us without any bias and without being under someone else influence."

Harry could very well understand, whose influence she was talking about.

He stated, "Don't worry about this. From the past two months, I have been independent and making my own ideas and taking my own decisions."

Daphne stared at him giving a 'I don't believe you expression.' Harry could only chuckle in response and smile to reassure what he said.

Very soon the finished their potion and Harry could tell that it was of good quality. Though he could have done a lot better because all the new memories he had, but none the less it was an excellent work considering that a fourth year had performed it.

He stayed back at his place, while Daphne and Tracey went to submit the potion. Harry caught Snape giving a small sneer his direction, probably because he was unwilling to give Harry good grades.

They then cleaned up their work desk and walked out of the classroom as soon as the time of the class was over.

They had not even taken few steps in the corridor when there, was a rush of footsteps and a group of students overtook them from behind and blocked the path.

To no one's surprise Draco was leading this group of Slytherins. Along with his usual cronies, the group consisted of Pansy Parkinsons, Blaise Zabini, Thedore Nott and few more students.

Harry also caught the glimpse of some of his fellow Gryffindors, including Ron and Hermione standing a bit far from the group of Slytherins.

"What is this, Malfoy?" Questioned Daphne in her icy voice.

Malfoy sneered, "This is what you should tell us Greengrass." "What is the meaning of this?" Asked Malfoy gesturing his hands towards Harry.

Harry felt his anger rising, "You got a problem, Malfoy? Didn't you understand last time to not irritate me?"

Malfoy shouted, "This has nothing to do with you, Potter. It is the matter of our Slytherin house."

Before any among the three could respond, a red hair boy pushed away the crowd and arrived in front.

"What have happened to you, Harry? Not only are you associating with these slimy snakes but are now also defending them," almost shouted Ron in a disgusting tone on Harry's face.

Harry took a deep breathe to calm down his rising anger, "Look Malfoy, Weasley and all of you. I am in no mood to play these childish games of tantrums and house rivalries."

"So, stay the fuck out of my way," added Harry in a slow but heavy voice.

Probably remembering his broken nose, Malfoy subconsciously took two steps back but seeing the crowd gathered behind his back, he gathered his courage.

Pansy Parkinson chimed in, "Greengrass, we already tolerate this half blood friend of yours for your sake but now this is unbearable. We would not tolerate you associating with a Gryffindor and that too Potter."

Daphne took a step forward and stood face to face with the crowd, "What would you do, Parkinson? I doubt even 4 or 5 of you would be able to take me down magically. And without any doubt none of you come close to my political stature. I am a Greengrass. Heir apparent to Most ancient and Most Noble house of Greengrass."

This declaration bought a small expression of worry on the faces of all the students. Unless and until a lot of them group themselves, they were no match of the combined duo of Tracey and Daphne. And yet, doing so was a political suicide. No matter the situation the political players of the wizarding world will not tolerate a brazen attack on a pure blood heir of Most Ancient and Most Noble house.
