Chapter 13 - Removing the Blood Ward

June 1994

4 Privet Drive

After an unknown amount of time, Harry woke from his unconsciousness and found himself lying sprawled on the floor of the attic. The sun had already set and it was already late in night.

Harry blinked his eyes few times and took few moments to register what had happened. Finally, recalling the events and collecting himself he pushed himself from the floor and stood up.

The first thing he noticed after standing was the dried blood on his face. Moving his body he reached in front of the window glass, which he used as a make shift mirror. He gazed his appearance and to his surprise his scar on forehead was almost gone. Only a very light bruised remained in its place. The blood had come out from the scare, which after a certain time had dried down.

Harry concluded that his scar was the side effect of the Voldemort's soul wraith and with the soul wraith gone the scar had also healed.

Harry then took his seat on the second hand and the broken bed and tried to look into his mindscape to know what had transpired into their which had caused him lose his consciousness. The moment he tried to focus his mind on his mindscape, he was assaulted by huge amount of disorganised and unknown memories which left him dizzy in seconds. Having no idea how to react in this situation, he instinctively willed and shut down the assault from his mindscape.

Taking further few deep breaths he calmed himself. Though he was not very himself bur for now he assumed that he loss of consciousness was something related to the memories of the three Peverell brothers.

Thinking about the Peverell brothers he let out a sad smile. Though a lot was to be done, Harry felt extremely tired and was in no mood to do anything and went to sleep.

The next morning was the usual routine for Harry. He woke up in the morning, prepared food for the Dursleys, heard them taunting and scolding him and ate the leftover scraps.

After that he shut down his attic using a makeshift obstacle of his old chair. Then he took a small butter knife he had sneaked from the kitchen.

Harry then sat very focused and started to draw runes on the floor of the attic as the Peverell brothers had instructed. At first, he was sceptical that if he remembered every rune correctly but to his surprise, he had a very vivid recall of whatever the brothers have shown him. Not only this, he was beyond surprised when in addition to his own memories of the runes, he could also recall the memories of the three brothers regarding that particular rune.

It took him few minutes to complete the rune. At first, he was doubtful if his magic would respond without a wand, but was pleased when he felt no obstacle and a perfect connect to his magic while drawing the runes.

The rune when completed took a hexagonal shape and was filled with the smaller component of the runes from his inside. After that taking the butter knife, he slit open his palm and tried to drop the blood drops from his slit palm on the rune but to his astonishment the palm healed even before a single drop of blood spilled.

This came as a shock to Harry. Though he knew he had a strong healing capacity as his injury he received from the Dursleys healed quite quickly but it was never up to this extent. He wondered that if his bound magic had some kind of role in this.

Letting the thought aside for now he again took the knife and slit open his palm and then tried to force his magical flow away from the injury. To his pleasing, this method worked and Harry dropped 11 blood drops on the rune which were quickly absorbed inside the rune.

As soon as the 11th drop of the blood was absorbed, a golden light surrounded Harry, the rune on the floor of the attic and whole of the house. It took not even a second and the golden light along with the rune disappeared and Harry felt the blood wards leaving his body and his magical flow getting more dense and stronger.

Harry had successfully removed the blood ward from his body. Using his blood, he had shifted the anchor of the blood ward from himself to those 11 drops of blood. But now since the ward had no magical reserve, in this case Harry himself, it was nothing more than a decorative boundary. It merely existed in name without any ounce of protective power.

Whatever instrument Dumbledore would have been using it would continue to show the presence of a blood ward tied to Harry's blood. In case even if tried to check via normal means he would still feel its presence but would never know that it had lost all its power, unless he personally decides to test against the wards, which was very unlikely.

Accomplishing the first task and an important task, Harry looked forward to what he had to do now, which was him claiming the Lordship of Peverell family. Though he was not exactly aware of what his claiming of the Peverell Lordship signified but since the brothers had asked him do to so he would follow it and later gather information about its meaning. But even so he was excited about the little surprise the Peverell brothers had talked about.
