Chereads / Fight Against Darkness / Chapter 18 - 17: False Promise

Chapter 18 - 17: False Promise

IDLY CITY

Dan grabbed his suit despite it being really dirty. He gave it a few whips and was done. He then went out with Laura. She wore a light-pink blouse with her sorcerer uniform pants. The two walked out of Cathy's apartment and started walking south, the night sky looks like nothing more than a drowned-out color from the city lights.

"Do you know that Cathy doesn't know to cook?" He asked.

"I think I've heard that, yeah."

"Weird, don't you think? She eats take out probably almost every meal but she still manages to look ho-" he stops himself. "I mean, look nice."

"No, I think so too. She is hot," she agrees.

"Model-like body," Dan insisted on not using the word. "I think those are what models look like."

"Not all, but she somehow manages to keep it."

"Any specific place you'd like to go?" Asked Dan.

She glanced upward as she walks, wondering. She came up with an answer, "not really," she replied. Dan looked over to her, she was walking next to him with a certain reluctance toward him. Dan looked away, thinking about what he should say.

"I want ice cream," she said.

"Sure!" He replied. "Now to find a good ice cream shop…" He mumbles to himself. "What's your favorite ice cream flavor, Laura?"

 "Strawberry cheesecake," she replied.

 "Cake? Majika?"

 "Maji dayo," she persisted. "Anta?"

"Chocolate."

 "Majika? Basic naaa."

Majika = Really?

Maji dayo = For real

Anta? = You?

"Basic janakute, chocolate wa oishidesuyo. You like cake-flavored ice cream. Why not just eat cake?"

 "Because I want ice cream."

"Then why cake flavored ice cream?"

 "No reason."

 "I don't even like cake."

"What? How do you celebrate your birthdays?"

"Udon or ramen or rice, etcetera. Cake just taste like bread to me."

 "Weirdo."

 "Yeah… Yeah," he laughs.

Basic janakute, chocolate wa oishidesuyo = It's not basic, chocolate is good

The two reached a bridge that starts a canal, the canal travelled to deep into the city. The size of the canal was about eight meters wide, there were a bunch of canoes and tour ferry boats. The canoes were particularly on Dan's mind. He thought of getting to ride one with Laura. Across the bridge, he saw an ice cream cart. There was no line, the woman who was working the cart had a portable chair and was patiently waiting for a customer. On the side of the cart, read 250 yen a scoop.

Dan tugged Laura's arm sleeve, she was looking the other way. "Hmm?" She turns to him. He points at the cart, "ice cream."

"Oh, cool. We only needed to walk half a mile."

They walked up to the cart, upon closer inspection, the woman was Japanese. Dan thought it'd be better to speak in her native, "konbawa," Dan greeted with a wave.

"Konbawa," the woman waved back. "Dono you ni otetsudai dekimasuka?"

"Ice cream o ni ko kudasai."

 "Hai. Nan aji ga iidesuka?"

"Chocolate kudasai. And Strawberry cheesecake wa arimasuka?"

"Strawberry cheesecake arimasu. Chocolate wa arimasen."

"Majisuka?" Dan felt a little disappointed that there wasn't any chocolate.

Laura pulled Dan's sleeve and whispered, "try my flavor!"

 "Hai, hai," Dan sighs.

 "Mo strawberry cheesecake."

 "Hai," the woman said.

She grabbed two small-sized cones—11.5 centimeters long— and had them held between her fingers. She opened the bucket of ice cream and grabbed a scooper and took two scoops of strawberry cheesecake and placed them carefully on the cone. Dan took out his phone and took off his casing and unfolded a total of ten-thousand-yen band made of thousand-yen bills. He took out one and handed it to the woman. She grabbed a change of five-hundred-yen and gave it to Dan.

"Arigatou gozaimashita," she smiled as she hands it to him.

"Arigatou gozaimashita," the two replied while nodding.

The two then walked off, Dan was skeptical about the ice cream. He wonders how it would taste like. He saw bits of strawberry and small chunks of cake in it.

 "Try it," she said.

 "Are you sure?"

"Come on, try it," she repeats.

Dan took a big lick off his ice cream and savored it. It was freezing, the cold shot through the ceiling of his mouth giving him slight brain freeze. Despite it, he found himself kind of enjoying the flavor. A lot.

"How is it?" She asks excitedly.

Dan's face turned red and he looks away embarrassed, "oishii..." He swallowed his pride and admitted.

 "Aha! Told you so!"

Oishii = it's good.

They reached a dock where a canoe was waiting for potential customers. Now's your chance, Jon stated. Dan already had it in mind, "hey, Laura?"

 "Hmm?"

 "Wanna ride a boat?"

"A boat…?" She looks over to the dock and see the canoe. She thinks about it for a second, a bit random. "Yeah, sure. Why not?"

 "Cool."

The two walked over to the dock and looked over at the canoe, the paddler beckoned them in, "cheap, for you two," he said in a funny accent. Dan didn't really care much about the price, whatever it's going to cost him, it's not going to be ten-thousand-yen. Dan hopped in first. He then lends his hand, she holds his hand tightly and jumps down. A pretty dangerous way to enter a canoe, but she had the balancing skills for it.

They sat in front, next to each other, enjoying their ice cream. Seeing the city skyscrapers from the canoe made them feel small in comparison. Laura slides out to the side of the canoe slowly and dipped her hand in it. She let her hand drag through the water. She lifted her wet arm and turned to Dan, she flicks her hand splashed him with the water. He flinched, "what the hell, Laura?" He said, laughing.

Laura slides back and sat next to him again, this time, closer. She was already finished with her ice cream, Dan was shocked. He rather not mention it, however. "You want mine?" Dan offered.

"I'm good. Thanks for the ice cream."

 "Yeah, no problem."

Their arms were touching, he had his eyes on her, she let hers enjoy the scenery around her. She doesn't go out much, so this was something she's been wanting to do for quite a while. Dan's feels his body get warmer, despite the cold ice cream he's eating, now finished. She smells nice, he said in his head. Wait, don't think that. That's creepy, he shook his head. After mentioning her scent, his heart raced. So much that he feared that Laura can feel his body vibrate form his heart beating.

What am I feeling? He questions, pretending to be oblivious. It was more to make sure he knows his head and heart are synced and in the right place. He feels an odd sensation that shot through his entire body. It made his body tingle in disgust and anxiety. It made him scared.

"Laura, do you ever feel lonely?" He asked abruptly.

"Huh?" The question caught her completely off guard. Where's this coming from?

 "Umm… I guess so. Why?"

"Whenever I'm with you, I feel gross. Y'know?"

 "Oh…"

Is that how he sees me? Laura wondered whether he's being honest or not.

Dan, what the fuck was that? Jon gasps in absolute disbelief.

"What?" He audibly asks himself. He realized what he said, "fuck's sake!" He slurs angrily.

 "I didn't mean it like that! I feel gross. Not about you. It's… I… Uh… It's…"

The paddler behind them felt awkward to be interrupting their conversation by saying they reached the end of their tour. So, he let them go on for a few more blocks. He also did his best to not make a sound and react to any of their words. He had been training himself for it.

"Laura, I'm sorry," he apologized. "This is going to sound weird; it really is. But feelings are a new thing for me. I have this thing where I can't say things in a way that I actually feel. Either it gets drowned out by something else and I end up lying and projecting, or I just end up suppressing that feeling 'till I forget it."

 "That's normal, isn't it?"

"It is?" Dan was a bit out of touch.

"Yeah, it is. Though it's unhealthy."

"Oh…" His shock was a bit overwhelming, "oh…" However, it felt reassuring that he wasn't alone. "I'm sorry. I still can't put it into words."

"That's okay, you might just sound like you're yapping, but I'm sure you tried your best."

"Hahah…" Dan giggles, "do I sound like I'm yapping?"

"A bit," Laura shrugs her shoulders. Dan smiles and appreciates her honesty.

"Any ideas of where to go after we get off?" He asks.

"We can just walk around, it's only eight p.m. still."

"May I give a suggestion?" The paddler spoke up.

Dan turned around, "sure, man. Anything's appreciated."

"The Loudly Bridge. It's a really nice place to walk. Lots of food stands, near a lot of konbini too. And bunch more stores."

 "Where's that?" Dan asks.

"Few hundred meters away from our stop. North."

 "What'd you think, Laura?"

 "S- sure."

konbini = convenience stores

The boat quickly stopped on a dock, Dan gave the paddler his pay and got out the boat. He lends Laura a hand and pulls her out. They start heading north, to the bridge.

On the way to the bridge, Dan thought of Laura that made him kind of curious. He knew they weren't that close, but he feels like he could share a lot of things with her. "Laura?" He called.

She raised her eyebrows, turns to him, "hmm?"

"Are you close with your family, Laura?"

 "Umm.. Why do you ask?"

 "A little curious is all."

 "N- Not really."

"Okay," he decides to stop the conversation short. Her body language told him that she was uncomfortable talking about her family. The two then walked in awkward silence, Dan felt bad for talking about something sensitive. Don't worry, you were just curious.

Yeah, but it made her hate me.

What? Why would that make her hate you? She's not that big a push over.

Still though, Dan still thought about it.

 She won't. She can't.

 "Lau-"

"Dan, I ca-" She accidentally cut him off. "Oh, sorry. Douzo."

 "No, you go."

She takes a deep breath, "Dan, this might come as a surprise, but I didn't have a loving family. They neglected me and didn't care for me."

They reached the bridge, it was a wide bridge made of stone slabs, a lot of food stands like the paddler said. Laura walked to the rails of the bridge and looked over the railings. She saw a small ferry pass under, it had people onboard, touring, just like they were. Dan leaned over the rails, seeing the same boat. Then he glanced over to her with a worried and confused look. He turns around and leans back on the rails. He looked to his right and heard sounds of kids playing and people talking. He looks back at Laura, "I'm sorry," he said reluctantly. "I didn't know."

"It's okay…" She replied with a heavy sigh. "I feel like I wasn't deserving of their care anyway. Not after what I did."

"What… Did you do?" He prevents his head to run free with imaginations.

"Left my brother for dead," she replied hastily.

Dan was not prepared to hear her reply so quickly. He couldn't build any anticipation for what she said. So, now he's just stun to silence.

"Didn't expect to hear that didn't you?" She chuckles in a completely different tone than her regular voice.

 "No," he shook his head.

"In my family, the only decent person to me was my brother, Taylor. One day, he took me on a mission and I couldn't fight. I just ran. Didn't stop. Didn't look back. Then Kai found me. He took me in and I've been refusing to go back ever since."

 "How long ago was it?"

 "I was eight."

"Kai didn't try to send you back?"

"Kai and his brother are despised by the Varr and Crescent. Coz, they're too strong. I mean, Kai's brother is the only Supreme-Rank sorcerer currently. Kai himself is a high-end High-Ranking sorcerer, being the fastest and all that."

"Do you ever think you wanna go back? I mean, it's your family."

"My brother's dead for all I know. If he's alive, he'd probably hate me. He's next in line to be the head clan, they're going to blame me for everything. I rather not bother myself."

 "Wow…"

"I know, right? Makes you think less of me."

"No, that's not what I meant. I'd never. I just can't relate to being put down by other family members because my entire life, it's always been me and my mom. I wouldn't dare have a fight with her. Not when I know if she dies, I'll be alone."

 "Sounds like a sweet person."

 "She is…"

BLACK ROOM

Dan paces back and forth behind the couch. Rubbing his chin while looking down at the ground.

Jon looks over his shoulders, behind the couch. I know what you're thinking, Dan. Stay out of it.

"We'll just scout. See how things are."

Are you sure? This might end up badly.

 "Either way, I'll do anything."

 REVERT

 "Dan?" Laura called, facing Dan.

 "Yeah?"

 "You okay?"

"What do you mean? Yeah, I'm fine."

"Really? You were charging up an insane amount of mana."

 "I was? Huh, I didn't notice."

The two stood there in silence, facing away from each other. Then a kid passed in front of him, a little girl. Maybe seven or eight. She wore a purple shirt with shorts and crocs. She turns to Dan and looks up to him. Dan starts glancing left and right, looking for where this kid came from and why she's here.

He crouches down to his knees, "are you lost, kid?"

"Hai," she nods. Laura turns around. She was surprised to see a kid.

"Ryoushin wa doko desuka?" Dan asks.

"Watashitachi wa konbini ni imashita," she points at the other side of the bridge. Dan looks over, he sees a convenient store.

"Souka, ikuzo," he stands up and lend her a hand. She grabs onto his hand.

"You seem good with kids," Laura said with a sarcastic tone.

"Most of the time, I can't stand kids. But, I'm willing to put myself aside to help her out. You should try it."

Laura was taken aback from his comment. Almost offended, but she knew he meant it in the best way. She follows behind the two, feeling a bit angry. "Were you always this selfless?"

"Nope. I'm thinking of changing into someone my mom and Sam can be proud of."

Laura laughs, pushes her hair back behind her ears and feels her heart racing, you really are something, huh?

She catches up to the and walks beside the little girl. "Ne, namae wa?"

 "Watashi wa Nina desu."

"Nina-chan, watashi wa Laura desu. Hajimemashite."

"Hajimemashita, Laura-chan," she replied. Nina then tugs Dan's sleeve, "kimi no namae wa nandesuka?"

 "Daniel desu. Hajimemashita."

They made it to the other side of the bridge, in front of the convenient store. Dan takes a look from the outside, it was empty. Even with mana sense.

 "Nina?" A woman called out.

Dan turned around with Nina and saw a mature woman. She's most likely in her thirties. "Aa, sumimasen, kimi wa Nina-san no haha desuka?"

A man walks up behind her and was excited to see Nina. Nina waves at the two

"Mondai o okosu tsumori wa arimasen deshita. Sumimasen deshita," she bowed apologizing.

"Iiya. Daijoubudesu…" Dan chuckles, waving his hand.

"Ahh, Aina, Luka. Found your kid?" Another voice spoke behind them.

 "Yes, this boy found him."

Dan's grip on the girl's hand tightened. He slowly backs away. Laura casts Light Amplification on herself, pulls up her sleeves and prepares to brawl for her life.

"Omae… Nande omae ga koko ni iru… Shujin!?"

"Shujin, you know him?" Asked Luka.

"Yes, yes. We know each other. We're acquaintances," he answered. "What luck, isn't that right, Daniel?"

"Dan, get ready to take her away, I'll hold him off," Laura said, bracing herself.

"Hey, let go of my daughter," Aina spoke up to Dan, her voice sounds worried. She noticed his grip gotten too tight.

"Take your hands off her!" Luka demanded.

Everyone around them starts diverting their attention to them. Dan casts Dark Gauntlets on his free left arm. Veiling his arm with black flames that emitted terror. "Sir, Ma'am, I need you to step away from that man, grab your kid and run as far as you can," Dan requests.

"What are you saying?" Aina asks in confusion.

"Shujin is a mana criminal. We're sorcerers, please step away," Laura announces aloud. Alerting people around them, they started backing away.

"Shujin, please help! Get my daughter back."

"Sure," the grin on his mask enlarges. In a flash, he was standing inside the tight distance between Dan and Laura. He grabs Nina and dashed back to Aina and Luka. He placed Nina on the ground and she clings to her parents.

 "Kuso…" Dan slurred.

"Oh, thank you, Shujin," said Luka.

"No problem," he replied. "Daniel, have you turned evil? Stepping in between the relationship of a parent and a child?"

"Urusai! Kuso mahoutsukai!" Dan yells angrily.

"Language! There's a child…" Shujin yelled back with a smile. "Aina, Luka."

 "Yeah?"

Urusai = Shut the fuck up!

Kuso = Fuck

Kuso mahoutsukai = You shitty sorcerer

"Don't trust strangers," he states. He dashed in a bright white flash and lands a roundhouse to the side of Dan's chest and sent him inside the convenience store. He crashes through the glass wall and knocked over the shelves inside.

Laura turns to Shujin and raised her fist. She pulls back and punched as hard and fast as she could. Shujin turns to her and stopped her fist with his middle finger and thumb. "My, how weak."

 "Kuso…" She slurred.

Dan got up and started running out the convenient store, "SHUJIN!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.

Shujin grabs Laura's wrist and swings her around and sent her crashing at Dan. Shujin then walks towards the family. Aina grabbed Nina and carried her, Luka stands in front of Aina and pushed her back. Shujin flourished his left hand out in the air and his blue book appeared. He snaps his right fingers and the family got transported somewhere. The three just disappeared.

Shujin looks behind him, stared at Dan. "Come kill me, Daniel," he taunts.

Dan stands up while helping Laura stand too. Shujin opens a white portal, he walks through it and disappears. The portal stayed there. Dan rushes to it. Laura pulls him back and slows him down, "we need to call Cathy!"

"You do it! I need to save that family!" Dan yelled.

"How would I know where to find you?"

"You have my contact info, just track me."

 "Okay. Don't die, got it?"

 "I won't."

Laura lets go of him and he rushes into the portal. He walks through with no fear or hesitation. Just after he enters the portal, it closed off immediately.

Laura grabs her phone and calls Cathy immediately, "pick up, pick up, pick up, pick up…"

"Hello?" Cathy picked up, half asleep, lying on her bed with pajamas.

 "We ran into Shujin!"

"HUH!? DOKO?" Her eyes shot open.

"We saw him at Loudly Bridge then he ran away with a portal. Dan followed him."

 "Got it, on my way."

Doko = Where

Cathy rolled out of bed, let herself hit the floor to fully wake up. She turned to mist without including her clothes, her clothes fell off. She reappeared naked. She opened her closet and wore bomber pants and a white t-shirt.

She grabbed her phone and dialed a number, "Idly City. Search for Shujin. Now," she said with a commanding tone.

 "Yes, ma'am."

She hung up immediately and turned fully into mist and starts heading to Loudly Bridge while also looking out for Dan's mana wavelength.

Dan ended up in a weird closed space. He looks around and sees no exit. No paths to enter either. He must've used that ring! Dan figured. He saw there were support pillars and tidy lines assorted on the concrete floor. "A parking basement…" The entire place itself looked about fifteen by fifteen meters.

He saw the family in one corner in front of him, near a pillar. He turns around and sees a bed of stone, atop it was a humanoid beast carcass. Four eyes, wide mouth, sharp teeth, giant hands, tall, and armored.

This one wears armor… Why? Dan wonders silently.

"Former human. If that's what you were wondering in your head," Shujin said aloud. "They called him Ri, King Corruption. They don't speak much of him throughout history. Probably because he was a disgrace to the Crescent Family. His real name's Cassius Crescent. I didn't know him personally; he was about a hundred years after me."

"Cut the shit! What are you doing with this family!?"

"So impatient… I was just getting there," Shujin sighed exasperatedly at Dan's rude manner. "San tai ichi. Three highly compatible souls, mixed into one, then cleansed. Once cleansed, it becomes a clean slate soul that's self-sustaining. Then I will project that soul into Ri's body and revive him."

San tai ichi = three to one

"That wouldn't work the way you think it would, not with regular people. Mana is tailored to the soul. It would just make him a live beast. No magic at all."

"Interesting that you know that, despite how new you are still," Shujin turned to him, suspicious. "However, this body actively taints the soul, takes over it. The corruption stems from the brain and it is fully intact, it'll work like a…" He pauses for a second. He ran the tip of his fingers on his mask, "a parasite..." He looks up at Dan and glares at him.

"Then it'll work like a maniacal beast…?" Dan concluded.

"Correct. However, he'll be able to think and communicate."

Dan glanced over to the family, I can't let them die… That became his main goal. I don't think I have enough magic to destroy this body, he glances at Ri, I can only fight Shujin. Hold him off long enough for Cathy and Laura to find me. Problem is: how long is it going to take? I wouldn't go on a battle of attrition against Shujin.

You have the heart for it, Dan. Don't lose yourself.

 "Right…" He mumbled.

Dan reached his hand out and grabbed Shujin's gravity. He pulls it down to the ground and cratered him to the floor. Dan ran around the stone bed and tried to grab Shujin. Shujin disappears from his sight and Dan lets him slip out of his grip. Shujin raised his right leg and lands a side kick to Dan's back. Dan fell forward, as he loses his balance he rolls forward. Dan quickly turned around and cast Dark Gauntlets and Dark Boots.

Dan dashes forward, he grabs Shujin's jacket with both hands, keeping his hands straightened. He then folded his right hand and whipped it forward. His elbow hits Shujin's face and knocks his head aside. Dan sent his elbow back directly to the center of Shujin's mask. He pulls his chest back and whips out the same hand vertically, hitting Shujin's forehead with his knuckles. He then moved close and put his hand on the back of Shujin's head and pulled him close as he folds his left hand and smashed Shujin's face into his elbow.

As Dan's upper body was pointed to the right, his right hand then slips under Shujin's and he lands a punch directly to his kidney. He then slips his right hand over Shujin's left and grabbed his left shoulder. Shujin grabs Dan's left arm, Dan reaches the back of his head once again with his right hand. He grabs Shujin's right hand and pulls him down while lifting his knee up to his face.

Shujin then pushes Dan away. He dashes forward with his right leg pointed outward hitting him in the center of his abdomen. Dan slams against a wall. He wheezed for air. He pulled his right leg back slightly, redirected it, then hits a roundhouse directly at Dan's face. Dan's face was turned aside, he spews out blood from his mouth.

Shujin drops low and lands a punch to Dan's solar plexus. Dan was pressed against the wall, cratering the wall. He slides down the wall and sat unwillingly.

Shujin takes a few steps back and conjured a dagger, Sever. His head starts bopping right and left. "A- A- A- A-" it was like a seizure episode. His head starts physically glitching, "ki- ki- ki- ki- keep alive." His head then slams stop. He dispelled the dagger. He grabbed Dan's jacket and lifted him up off the ground. He throws Dan across the basement and to the family. They were watching in silence, in fear for their life.

Dan lands directly on the pillar the family was hiding behind. He glances to his left, saw their terrified face. Nina was crying, but she didn't make a sound.

"Nee, nakanaide, Nina-san. Everything will be alright."

Nakanaide = Don't cry

Dan feels the blood at the back of his head spilling. He grits his teeth and stands. He conjures an insane amount of mana into his right hand. Highly condensed, even so, it was still raging. Mixed with his emotions. His helplessness that let dozens of people die, his fears that made him what he is, his indifference to it all. Turned his Dark Gauntlet, originally black, now tinted with blue.

"I won't let any of you die. Everything will be okay. I promise."

Shujin walks around the stone bed and slowly approached Dan. At that moment, Dan was able to unknowingly manipulate his own gravity towards something. Applying Newton's theory of gravity. The object with greater mass attracts the objects with smaller mass with greater force. He made Shujin virtually the object with bigger mass and only attracts himself. The gravity spell was only active for 0.1 seconds long with at least a thousand times the natural G force. Dan's fist collides at the center of Shujin's mask. He sent Shujin flying to the wall behind the stone bed. He burst through the thick wall that he made.

Dan found an escape for the family. "Come on, we need to get you out of here," Dan said urgently. The family stood up. Aina and Nina starts heading to the giant hole Dan made. Luka came over to Dan.

"Thank you," Luka pat Dan on his shoulder.

 "Don't mention it," he smiled.

Dan turns away from Luka, to the hole in the wall. All he saw was a flash of white light. Then blood splatter that covered his face. Dan quickly turns to Luka, his arm was cut in half and is spilling pints of blood quickly. Luka was too shocked to scream in agony. Just as it finally registered for him, Shujin came around and held Luka's face. Covering his mouth. Luka couldn't even let out a gasp. Shujin squeezed his hands and begins cracking Luka's jaw and cheekbone. Afterwards, Luka's entire jaw was hanging by a thread from his skull. He then pushes him to the wall. He caves in Luka's occipital bone, then cracks ran up to the temporal and parietal bones. Then a splashed stain of blood on the wall. Brain matter, flesh, and bone. It was almost like a dirty, jagged beheading with a giant meat hammer.

Then something light blue, maybe turquoise, appeared above Luka's head. Like a mix of fire and water. It was fleeting, yet in place.

Aina screamed in terror after seeing her husband's head caved in like a grape. Her screams of terror soon turned into a bubbling mouth filled with her own blood. Shujin's hand pierced half her body. He let his hand travel around in her abdomen and he pulls out her intestines out, still connected to her stomach. She drops to her knees. Shujin moved his hand so quick it had no motion to see. Her head, with half her neck bone showing, was plucked from her torso like a flower from the dirt. She was beheaded so fast that she was still blinking. After a few seconds, another one of those things appeared above her head, also turquoise.

Nina was backing away from Shujin, crying for her mother and father. Dan was in shock, he couldn't move. He saw two people get slaughtered before his eyes and he could barely process it.

Shujin dashed around Nina and holds the top of her head. He uses the ring.

The Overhaul Ring. It allows the bearer to manipulate matter at will.

Shujin turns Nina inside out. Literally. Her skin was deep inside her body. Then her flesh and bones mixed in all crooked-like. And her organs attached around the meat body. The body collapsed and splattered; blood spilled from body, creating a big red pool. Another one of those things popped up above her carcass. Hers was slightly darker in color.

"Step two," Shujin uttered. He pulls out his blue book and opens it to the necessary page.

"Nina…" He clenched his fists until they bled. He grit his teeth. His eyes bloodshot from rage. "Shujin... I'LL FUCKING KILL YOU!!!" He roared in fury. He runs towards Shujin.

This time was different. Shujin moved so quick Dan couldn't track him. He lands three consecutive punches to Dan's abdomen. Dan took the pain and tries landing a right jab on Shujin. Shujin grabs Dan's wrist with his right hand and placed his left hand vertically behind Dan's elbow. He then snaps Dan's hand the other way. He pivots around and goes under Dan's arm. He lifts Dan off the ground and slams him to the ground. Shujin then stomps Dan's face once. Then kicked his face. A little black and white spark came from his kick. Neither of them paid it any mine. He spews blood from his mouth and was forced to see the family again. The family he promised to protect.

His words, despite his motivations, were nothing more than a false promise.
