Chapter 56 - Chapter 56 Just Not Willing to Endure

Jing Mo didn't care at all, "Whether it's lunch or dinner doesn't matter, if you want to eat, just eat!"

Hearing Jing Mo's words, Su Nian surprisingly found them quite reasonable, and she didn't even feel like arguing.

Having lunch a bit earlier wasn't a problem, especially on a cold day like this when they were hungry. Eating something now wouldn't hurt.

With a good lunch, the meal was much simpler for the two of them, each having their own self-heating hot pot.

The self-heating hot pots were both spicy, filling the entire carriage with a rich spicy aroma.

As they ate, both of them started sweating from the heat.

There was no need to worry about the smell sticking to them too much; once they got off the train and faced the snow and wind, any lingering scent would be blown away.

As long as they didn't get too close, nobody would probably notice.

Slowly, they walked into the lobby, and as soon as they reached the door, they heard the bustling noise from inside.

People were chatting, arguing, children were crying, and there were some groans of pain.

Hearing these sounds, Su Nian instinctively frowned.

It seemed like there were a lot more people inside the house?

As Su Nian was thinking this, Jing Mo had already lifted the door curtain.

A wave of heat, mixed with an indescribable smell, hit them.

Su Nian's steps halted immediately.

This smell wasn't unfamiliar to Su Nian; she had lived in such an environment in her previous life.

Enduring it was certainly possible, but Su Nian just didn't want to.

She didn't want to be too conspicuous, but she also didn't want to suffer needlessly.

Otherwise, her efforts would have been in vain.

Su Nian turned to Jing Mo, "I don't want to go in."

Jing Mo, upon hearing this, wasn't surprised at all; he simply let go of the door curtain and nodded.

"With such a large resort, there should still be some intact houses. Let's find a room to rest."

Understanding Su Nian's intentions, the two immediately turned and left the lobby.

Most of the snow in the resort hadn't been cleared, so they walked with difficulty, sinking deep into the snow with every step.

After wandering around for quite some time, they finally found a relatively intact room.

It seemed to be a guest room, but all the wooden furniture inside had been removed, leaving the room empty.

They didn't mind, though. They went out to dismantle the doors and windows of nearby houses, and rummaged through the ruins to find a beam.

Jing Mo took an axe from the car and chopped the wood into suitable pieces for burning.

Though it didn't seem like much when stacked, once chopped, there was quite a pile.

With so much firewood, it should be enough to burn for the whole night.

After lighting the fire and warming up for a while, Jing Mo stood up again. "I just saw another pillar; I'll go get it."

Without waiting for Su Nian's response, Jing Mo opened the door and walked out.

Before long, he returned carrying a thick pillar.

Su Nian picked up the axe and stood up. "I'll chop it."

He brought the wood back; she would handle the chopping. Clear division of labor!

Jing Mo glanced at Su Nian with a smile and nodded, "Alright, you do it."

They had known each other for so long, yet she still wanted to keep accounts so clear.

Thinking about how much he had kept from her, Jing Mo felt that their current way of getting along was quite good.

At least neither of them would feel uncomfortable.

The wood buried in the snow was damp and humid on the outside.

After chopping, they placed it near the fire, where the heat would dry it.

By the time they needed to use it, it would be almost dry from the warmth of the fire.

After a busy time, the sky outside had already darkened completely.

"Shall we rest early?" Jing Mo suggested. "You haven't slept for over ten hours."

Su Nian woke up at midnight, and now it was 6 p.m., indeed 18 hours without sleep.

Su Nian nodded, "I'll sleep first. If it's about time and I haven't woken up, wake me."

"Alright."

Since there were only the two of them in the room, they had much more freedom of movement.

Su Nian took out the sleeping bag and tucked herself in.

There was a big difference between sitting and lying down to sleep.

Especially with a sleeping bag wrapped around her, she felt even warmer.

Closing her eyes, Su Nian fell asleep almost instantly.

After living in the apocalypse for a long time, everyone developed this basic skill.

Often when busy outside, if there was time to sleep and one couldn't fall asleep due to various thoughts, it was better not to sleep at all.

Jing Mo listened to Su Nian's steady breathing and knew she had fallen asleep, so he looked at her.

Even while sleeping, Su Nian didn't take off her mask.

He could only see her tightly closed eyes, the slight arch at the corners, and her long, thick, curly eyelashes.

The skin around her eyes was fair and delicate.

It seemed that even in extreme cold, it was particularly tolerant of her, causing no harm to her skin.

Jing Mo checked the temperature in the room and quietly took out a furnace-like object from his weapon space. With a press of a button, the entire silver-white furnace gradually turned red at the top.

As the red color intensified, the temperature in the room gradually rose.

It was visibly warmer, and Su Nian seemed to sleep more peacefully.

Seeing this, Jing Mo smiled softly.

His space could only hold weapons, and this object in front of him was originally a weapon, but he had modified it later, and now its primary function was heating.

People from the stars were equipped with their own light brains from birth.

When he first landed in this world, his light brain was useless.

But later, as the apocalypse arrived and he acquired gold, his light brain gradually recovered, and now it could be used normally.

Besides being a communication tool, the light brain could also directly transfer items.

Even now, in this world, he could still communicate with the stars.

Unfortunately, the technology here was too backward for him to tinker with any weapons.

The only thing he could tinker with was food.

But he didn't have enough for himself; he could only save a bit from his own rations to buy some materials and use them for weapon modification.

He had enough weapons, and he wasn't in a hurry for anything else, so he could barely get by.

If only he could get a large amount of food...

Unfortunately, although he had earned quite a few contribution points, there were restrictions on purchases in the base.

He had limited food for himself, and even if he wanted to buy more, he couldn't.

He didn't know when he would be able to get a large amount of supplies.

When that happened, it would be much more convenient to return with a spaceship and go out again.

Of course, the premise was that he had to be honest with Su Nian first.

Thinking of this, Jing Mo couldn't help but

 pinch his brow.

It wasn't that he couldn't say it, but he didn't know where to start.

Just as he was thinking, there was suddenly movement outside.

Jing Mo instinctively turned off the furnace at his side and quickly put it away in his weapon space.

After doing all this, he saw Su Nian open her eyes.
