The middle schools in the small town didn't have evening self-study for the first and second years, so students could leave after school.
When school was let out, Mrs. Xia drove to pick up Xia Ningxing and also took her brother along, looking after them with warmth and concern along the way. She asked Ningxing if she could adapt to the new school and if she had been bullied by any classmates, among other things.
If it had been any other child, they might have already been annoyed with their parent, but Xia Ningxing was not. She answered patiently one by one.
She had only recently gained a mother, and she cherished her deeply. She wouldn't act unthoughtfully like some children did.
"Bao'er, isn't Xia Jiaojiao in the same class as you?" Mrs. Xia suddenly thought of something, her brows slightly furrowing, the more she thought about it, the more she felt that the girl she had seen unintentionally in Class One that morning looked very much like Xia Jiaojiao.
