After hanging up the phone, Lu Nanchen held his cellphone and was momentarily dazed. His gaze lowered towards the cellphone, causing his long, dense eyelashes to appear all the more prominent.
"Brother Nan, who was it? When did your mom start urging you to return home? Aren't you going to work in Jiangqi City soon? School is about to start, what are you going back for?" Zuo Fugui, also known as Old Three, asked curiously.
Lu Nanchen was in a solo pool game with Song Yue, having scored two in a row, it was now Song Yue's turn.
Lu Nanchen put his phone back in his pocket and blandly replied, "It was my wife. My mother-in-law wants me to go home before school starts and come over with her."
While handling his shot, Song Yue jolted. The number 7 ball was sent flying by the cue ball, bouncing off the ceramic floor tiles, creating a crisp sound.
"Oh wife huh? I thought...? Wife?! Brother Nan, when did you even get a wife?" Zuo Fugui stood there staring at Lu Nanchen, his eyes wide and almost popping out in shock. His expression was one of disbelief.
It was just like Brother Nan to do something incomprehensible.
Damn it.
Since when did hidden marriage become a thing? Was this something an old-fashioned guy like him would do?
"Yes, we got married four months ago. It was arranged by our families. Being a filial son includes going along with your parents' wishes—it fulfills both generations' expectations." Lu Nanchen explained calmly, with a steady light in his ink-black eyes.
Song Yue straightened up from his shot at this, adjusting his glasses.
"Just like you to do this."
"Just like you to do this."
Both men uttered the comment simultaneously; Zuo Fugui even gave Lu Nanchen a thumbs-up. Forgetting the game entirely, he crowded around Lu Nanchen. "What does your wife look like? Got any photos? What's her name? How old is she? What does she do?"
Lu Nanchen absently touched the lid of his thermos mug.
"No photos. She's twenty. A second-year computer science student at Chang Ming University."
"Are you kidding me?"
Under the light, Song Yue's glasses reflected a gleam of wisdom.
"Your family had you go to Chang Ming University to teach specifically to foster your relationship right."
Lu Nanchen stayed quiet.
He has noticed she seems a little different now though.
"I'm not sure."
"What the heck? What the heck? What the heck?" Zuo Fugui turned his head between Lu Nanchen and Song Yue, "What's this? A teacher-student romantic relationship! Tsk tsk tsk..."
Lu Nanchen remained silent, indifferent to the teasing from the two; unfazed as ever, as solid as a rock.
The three of them have been companions since they were kids—from middle school classmates, to university classmates, though their majors and career directions were different after graduation. The eldest, Lu Nanchen, became a teacher, the second inherited the family business, and the third, well, he took it easy.
Song Yue's lips curled in a smirk; he found it amusing.
"You don't get it. This is called teacher-student play between a couple."

Regardless of how Lin Yan stomped and jumped around, Yu Ting left straightaway. After having teased her, he began to select clothes seriously.
He got a new set of everything, from the hat he wore outside for sun protection to the slippers he wore at home.
After entering and exiting several big-brand stores, the amount of money he spent increased again and again.
[Ding.]
[Congratulations to the host for successfully spending 5 million within 24 hours.]
Upon hearing this in his mind, Yu Ting returned home with his arms full of Shopping bags after paying his final bill.
The previously painful to look at pink bedroom didn't hurt the eyes as much after Yu Ting did a quick clean-up, and he made sure to replace all the clothes in the closet with new ones.
Much easier on the eyes now.
The only thing was, the room was still full of girlishness and there wasn't a single men's item seen.
