Chapter 3 - Chapter Three Finally... Can Move!

After sitting up from a suspicious black metal box, Gao Wen found himself in a state of serious confusion. In fact, even the simple act of "sitting up" was unconsciously accomplished.

An unprecedented chaos and dizziness were assaulting his brain. He felt a buzzing noise in his ears, and various sensations, both wild and indistinguishable, coursed through his entire body. Everything in front of him had at least four overlapping images, and two of them were in black and white. Amidst all this confusion, his cognitive abilities were miraculously intact.

Perhaps he should thank whoever had struck his hand with a stick just before he was about to be engulfed by the chaos. That blow brought precious clarity in the critical moment.

But that stick really hurt...

As his thoughts gradually returned to normal, Gao Wen finally recalled what had happened earlier – the sudden interruption of his vision, the initiation of some escape program, the sensation of continuous falling, and now... this tangible, sentient, and movable body.

A body!

He got a body!

After traversing for countless millennia, almost forgetting what it felt like to have any perception other than sight, Gao Wen acquired a body!

The confusion in his mind was understandable, and the chaotic sensations throughout his body were equally challenging. He hadn't experienced any sensations other than vision for far too many years. Even though his sanity remained intact for unknown reasons, adapting to the ability to feel temperature, pain, and itching proved challenging.

However, Gao Wen could feel that he was quickly adapting to this body, adjusting to the various sensations of returning to the material world. After the dizziness in his brain slightly subsided, the forbidden fourfold visual confusion in his mind also finally returned to normal, and the surrounding situation came into view.

The first thing he saw was the four heavily armed strongmen not far ahead – one of them a middle-aged man with white streaks in his hair, wearing sturdy iron armor that almost covered his forehead, wielding a silver-gray longsword. The other three had simpler armor and weapons, but they still showed signs of standardization.

A petite girl was being pressed to the ground by these four strongmen with swords. Due to hair obscuring her face and the angle, her appearance was unclear, but a pointed ear could be seen peeking through the strands.

Further away stood a woman in a red gown, exuding an elegant and mature aura. Her beautiful face and well-proportioned figure caught Gao Wen's eye, and he quickly noticed the tension and fear that she couldn't completely conceal.

However, the commotion from his side quickly caught Gao Wen's attention. He turned his head and saw a seemingly sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl nervously jumping down from the stone platform where he had been lying, holding a metal stick that looked quite painful when swung...

Thinking back to the girl's previous position, Gao Wen's expression suddenly became strange. "Just now... it was you who hit me, right?"

As he said this, he first felt a bit stunned: he realized that what came out of his mouth was not Chinese but some unfamiliar language, yet this strange language felt as familiar as if it were his native tongue.

However, Rebecca was unaware of the chaotic thoughts swirling in the mind of the "ancestor." The noble girl, who had just inherited the title of viscount and faced a tremendous upheaval, was on the verge of tears. "Ancestor, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry... That blow was... painful."

In the process of gradually regaining his thoughts, Gao Wen finally recalled what had happened before – the abrupt interruption of his view, the initiation of an escape program, the sensation of continuous descent, and now... this tangible, conscious, and mobile body.

"I..." Gao Wen had not fully figured out what had happened until now. Although he had watched this world from the sky for many years, experiencing it from a first-person perspective was a first. His level of bewilderment surpassed that of everyone present. "Who are you people?"

The mature woman in the red gown, who seemed to be the calmest person on the scene, took a step forward. While still wearing a wary expression, she calmly spoke, "Do you know who you are?"

"Me?" Gao Wen paused for a moment, but before unconsciously stating his own name, he jolted, realizing he should have a different identity now.

Looking at the peculiar box beneath him, though it had a strange design, it was undoubtedly a coffin. Considering the surroundings, although more spacious than his home in his previous life, it eerily resembled a tomb...

Taking into account the expressions on the faces of those around him, Gao Wen realized something: he faked his death.

At this moment, he could not afford to utter any name that did not match the body he had inhabited. If he mentioned a name inconsistent with the deceased's identity, he would likely be treated as a malevolent spirit
