Chapter 22 - Chapter 22 - Cleaning And Army

In the following days, Aedhira was doing everything BUT doing what he was supposed to. That is to say, he was procrastinating. A lot.

"Hm hmmh mh hmmmmmmmmm"

[Sire, what are you doing]

"cleaning"

[I can see that, but why?]

Aedhira's brow scrunched up. He was rather sick and tired of the wet corridors, and the random vegetation on the walls. The vegetation was rather lively considering he was on a celestial body quite literally devoid of life.

He sighed in defeat as he looked at the rather...run down state of the facility. He had been putting off choosing any generals or division of the 'Aes' army. He'd chosen to call it the Aes army, as, while Perpetuus Aes was a good name, it was a mouthful. So he shortened it to 'Aes' army when he needed to.

Regardless, the look of the facility gave him an itchy feeling that he couldn't quite scratch, not unless he had restored it to some extent.

Alas, even the homunculus had developed a bad case of OCD.

Aedhira broke into an abrupt frown, looking around for no one in particular.

[Sire, I have a suggestion]

"Shoot" Aedhira said, as he continued scrubbing down with a sponge-like substance. He was wearing what appeared to be come kind of apron and a hairnet. For someone who struggled to find footwear a couple earlier, where he had found these items would remain a wonder.

[Perhaps you can put your army to work?]

"Why would I do that? Its only a couple rooms, there's no real reason I should summon an entire army just for cleaning. A bit overkill don't you think?"

[Perhaps. But it seems you aren't aware of something]

"And what's that?"

[Fort Blanche covers approximately 12 Elomeres below the surface]

"Elomeres?"

[TRANSLATING----------Kilometers]

Aedhira's eye's widened in alarm, "12 KILOMETERS? WHY IS SO BIG??? ISN'T THIS JUST AN OUTPOST???"

[Affirmative]

Our protagonists face had taken on a grim countenance hearing this. He was cleaning to avoid work, but he didn't expect it to be this bad.

"Well, guess it leaves me with no choice, I had to get this place functional at some point and appoint those Generals. Might as well do it now"

[Very well....Sire]

Aedhira's eyes twitched uncontrollably. If he didn't know any better, he'd have detected a hint of snide from the monotone voice.

"Argos, pull the models with the highest performance, divide the results into the following classes. Airborne, Tankers, Scouts, Firepower and Logistics"

[Healers?]

"Healers? They're made of metal Argos"

[Ah...affirmative, displaying results]

Aedhira comber through the results, not even bothering to look at the descriptions or specifications. He was just going with his gut, which is to say, he was just choosing whatever looked cool. Or whatever passed as a gut in his case.

One by one he selected five. Among the Airborne units, he chose a pretty looking white unit with large mechanical wings reminiscent of angels, except this one had guns instead of swords.

For the Tankers, he chose something looking like a gorilla, an armored gorilla with what appeared to be a cannon on its back and had humongous shields on both its arms.

For the Firepower area, his choice was a bit questionable. There was no way around it, but to admit that the unit he chose looked like a wizard. With an over-sized metal....staff? And what could only be some kind of wizard hat. Aedhira looked especially proud of his choice for this one.

For logistics, his choice was even stranger, what he came across wasn't one singular unit, but 3, sleek looking bots, that looked suspiciously like teachers and it's visor looked suspiciously like glasses.

Yet it was the scout class that had surprised Argos the most.

[This....]

He chose an ordinary infantry unit. designed to be easily repairable and modified. What made him choose this was...well-

"On the battle field, people will always look for the most eye-catching targets. A scouts job is to find the enemy, obtain information and come back. And to do that, it needs to be rugged. Something that can endure a lot of punishment but doesn't take much resources to maintain. Should it ever get caught up into trouble, it can look for parts to fix itself until it come home."

[...]

Was it a foolish choice or a ingenious one? Only time could tell.

"Argos, display statistics and descriptions for the chosen units, I want to see what I'm working with here"

[Affirmative]
