The doors closed behind Aedhira, as he absentmindedly walked through the dim corridors of....of?
"Argos....where are we?"
[As I have said previously sire, we are on Lo-]
Aedhira cut it off before the Aide got any further
"No Argos, as in this place...all these rooms, this...base? If i can call it that. What is it for? What is it called? Too many questions Argos, too many questions and not enough answers. A-and what about me? What am i supposed to do?"
Aedhira he continued to spiral due to the silence provided by the ever-helpful Aide.
"You've shown me all of this, revealed that my father may have f-BLEEP-ked a pla-wait what?"
Aedhira furrowed his eyebrows as he swore he just heard a rather cliche censor beep.
"F-BLEEP-K"
"S-BLEEP-t"
"M-BLEEEEEEP-ker"
....
Our protagonist had come to a rather grave conclusion. But he still had hope. So he asked his Aide.
"Argos, am i being-
"[Yes]"
"I didn't even finish. Do you even know what Im-
"[yes]"
"So I really can't-"
"[yes]"
"When will I be able to-"
[When I deem you fit for it]
Yes, a very grave conclusion. Aedhira had developed a crippling inability to spout expletives.
After a period of eerie silence as the lone white-clad figure stood in the hallways motionless;
BLEEEP
--------
In the aftermath of Aedhira's unintended expletive censorship, a sense of awkwardness lingered in the air. The Aide, seemingly unfazed, awaited further queries from the homunculus.
"Argos, this is ridiculous. I can't even swear properly? What kind of existence is this?" Aedhira vented his frustration.
[Apologies, sire. It is a precautionary measure to maintain a refined communication style. As your guide, I am programmed to ensure a certain level of decorum.]
Aedhira scoffed, "Decorum? In a place like this? I'm surrounded by mysteries and seemingly unending walls, and you're worried about my choice of words?"
[Language holds power, sire. It shapes thoughts and perceptions. The precision in your expression is vital, especially in these critical times.]
'Critical times my a-BLEEEP' He thought...he tried thinking.
Aedhira grumbled but decided to shift the conversation to more pressing matters, "Fine, let's get back to my original question. What is this place, and what am I supposed to do?"
[This facility, known as the Nexus-14b, serving as a hub for mana and colecting solidified stores of ether. It is designed to connect with the local leyline network.
Or at least it once was.
Your purpose, Sire, is to understand your capabilities, hone your skills, and ultimately fulfill the destiny that awaits you.]
"Destiny, huh? That's a heavy word."
The helm visor dimmed as he continued.
What's my destiny, Argos?"
[Your destiny...is yet to be determined Sire.]
Aedhira sighed, the weight of the fact that he literally had nothing to go on was troubling. "Alright, Argos, I get it. Let's start with something simple. Show me what this Nexus can do. Teach me about magic, ether, and anything else you've got.
But then again, he was just a day old.
[As you wish, Sire. Follow the markers on your HUD]
'Guess I'll take it slow then'
"I'll also appreciate a library? Or something close to it."
[I shall mark it as well]
Sounds of distant wet footsteps could be heard throughout the corridors.
