Chapter 11 - Offensive

Raya's POV

I pick up the call.

"Yes Mom?" I say as I stand facing the wall.

"Raya, thank god you picked up."

"Everything all right Mom?"

"Everything will be all right once you listen to me."

"Mom, I always listen to you."

"If you would, you would be dating someone."

Again, same topic.

"I already told you, I don't want to date anyone—"

"See? and you say you listen to me. Raya I set up a date for you."

"What?"

"Yes, he's my friend's son. I already talked to him, he said he had no problem meeting you, you already know I want the perfect partner for you."

"I know Mom but I don't even know him, how can I just-"

"Raya, please don't say no. I already talked with them, i'm not forcing you I just want you to meet him. Honey, you can't stay stuck in the past."

"I'll think about it." I hang up before she can say something else.

I want to forget about it but I can't, it keeps haunting me.

I hate it.

I want to erase it from my mind.

My heart is racing from just thinking about it.

I take a deep breath.

I turn around and my heart drops as I see a tall figure, my back hits the wall.

"I wasn't going to bite you."

Calm down, it's Mr. Hart.

I look at the floor.

Calm down.

"Raya?" He reaches his hand to touch my shoulder.

I move away.

"Don't touch me." I walk towards the door.

He grabs my wrist.

"What if I do?" His voice deeper than usual.

He walks closer to me.

"After all…" He takes another step leaving no space between us. "you are my girlfriend."

"Have you gone nuts? it's an act, not reality."

"Really?" He says sarcastically, his tone still the same.

"…"

"Move…?"

What's wrong with him?

Why is he looking at me like that?

"What?" I ask as he keeps staring. "Why are you looking at me like that?"

"Like what?" A smirk that never leaves his face.

He's definitely teasing me.

"Like…that." I stutter slightly.

"Like…i'm gonna—"

"Mr. Hart are you moving or—"

"Or?" He says almost like he took it as a challenge.

"Yeah." I say it in a 'wanna fight?' tone.

"So brave." His smirk grows wider.

I can't even see his face after that dream.

Annoying punk.

"Mr. Hart I—"

"Yes, baby?"

"Don't call me that, your parents are not here for you to act like this."

"But what if they are looking at us through those cameras." His expression changes to concern which looks way too fake.

"Why would they—" I sigh deeply. "If you keep annoying me i'll tell your mom."

"Oh? you'll complain about your boyfriend." He frowns dramatically.

"Did your mom ever beat you?"

"No, never." He says with a smug expression.

"She should've." I mumble. "My neck hurts from looking up at you, can you at least move back?"

"You know how else can you neck hu—"

"Shut up."

"Ou~ not so innocent."

"…"

"By the way, your boyfriend will get jealous seeing you with me."

"…"

"Tell him, you're not my type."

"You're also not my type."

"I'm everyone's type, Darling."

"Pfft."

"…"

"…"

"Did you just 'pfft' me?"

"It was not a joke?" I supress my lips together. "It sounded like one."

"And you look like one."

"You are one."

"…"

"Do you know what you look like? A blob fish." I continue.

"Bob fish…? what's that?"

"You."

"You're comparing me with a fish?"

"The first time I saw you, I thought I was seeing a human version of a red-lipped batfish."

"…A what? what kind of names are these?"

As he looked lost in thoughts I walked away.

"I'm going to the office." I say and leave.

Ace's POV

"What in the fuck is a 'bob fish'?" I take out my phone and type the name.

I tap on search.

And the creature that pops on my screen almost makes me blind.

"Blob…fish?" My right eye twitches. "She thinks I look like this?"

Ha.

Haha.

Very funny.

I'm offended.

"Oh and what was the other one?" I think. "Red…bat fish?"

I type and search.

"Red-lipped…bat? fish?"

This is the most offensive thing someone has ever said to me.

"ME?! I LOOK LIKE THIS?!" I look at the ceiling processing that she actually called me that.

"You must be blind Ms. Gray."

And she looked serious while saying it.

"How does she even know these creatures? I would've never known if I didn't search them today."

I take my keys and walk out.

Taking the elevator I go down and she's there talking on her phone.

I walk towards her.

"You should be a comedian." I say, wanting to grab her attention.

She looks back at me and hangs up.

"If you were one, you would be a flop one because that was not funny." I continue.

"Really? thanks." She forces a big smile.

"Have you ever seen me? The word perfection was invented for me."

"Oh? Amazing." She says obviously uninterested.

I have to find another way to annoy her.

I will get back at you.

I grab her wrist and lead her to my car.

"Hey?! leave my hand." She tries to free her wrist.

"Don't you want to see your boyfriend's new office? and of course yours too."

"No…?!"

"There's no use for struggling you know I'll win."

"You stupid punk I told you to not to touch me I will slap the—"

I close the car door as I make her sit inside.

I walk to the other side and sit in the driver's seat.

"You think you can force me every time? you-"

"You, I, We, Us. I know, Sweetie."

"Open the door." She says.

"No."

She glares at me and I start driving ignoring her death stare.

We reach the office and my Dad is waiting for us outside.

15 minutes later

"And this is your office." Dad opens the door leading us in.

It's not like i've never seen this office. I spent my whole childhood here.

My dad used to make me sit on his chair and tell me that when I grow up I will be the one taking care of it.

Time flied and now i'm actually going to sit here and be the boss.

This building has 24 floors and my office is on the 24th floor meaning I can almost see the whole city from here.

There are glass walls everywhere which makes me curious, if people outside can see inside?

I'll have to check it myself.

"Raya sweetheart your office is in front of his, so you can always see each other." My dad puts on a 'smile' on his face.

"Why not with me?" I ask my Dad wanting to tease her.

"Because I don't think you're gonna focus if she's here, there should be some distance." Dad says laughing.

"Do you think 'some distance' will be enough to stop me?"

"Uh, son…will you be able to work with her in front of you?"

"Yeah Dad, any doubts?"

"Of course not. You guys can look around i'll be on the 18th floor." My dad says patting my shoulder and leaves, leaving us alone.

"Why am I here? I told you I don't want to work here." She says.

I walk around the office.

"Are you ignoring me?"

"Ou~ this chair looks durable." I spin it around. "And the desk too."

"Are you listening to me?"

"Come here."

"No." She crosses her arms around her chest.

"I am not asking. Do you not remember our deal?"

She rolls her eyes and after a moment walks closer. "What?"

"Sit here." I point at the desk.

"Why?"

"No questions, remember?"

She looks at me skeptically.

"I won't do anything, I just want to check something. Sit."

She sighs again and sits.

"Move the desk with your weight."

"What?—"

"Do it."

She sighs yet again and holds the side of the desk with her right hand and the other hand the front side of the desk.

She softly tries to jiggle the desk but it didn't budge.

She stops and looks at me confusingly. "What was this supposed to mean?"

"It is durable." I say as a smirk appears on my face. "Good, you can get off."

She gets off of it, the same expression on her face.

I sit on the chair.

"Now…" I look at her. "Come here."

"Where…?"

"Here." I tap my lap.

She looks at me as if i'm joking.

"We don't have all day. Come."

She doesn't say anything just glares at me.

"Come on, I promise I won't do anything. Just for 10s."

"No."

"I want to see if this chair is durable, if not i'll have to buy a new one, think about it, if one day i'm working and it suddenly breaks I can get hurt. Then you'll have to take care of me."

"…Me?"

"Yeah. If I get hurt my parents will visit me and if they visit me you'll have to 'act' again. Isn't it better that we just check it and save ourselves later in the future."

"…"

"If not that, you'll still be my personal assistant even if you don't want to you'll have to take—"

"Ok."

I smile which definitely looks playful.

She walks closer to me.

Still skeptical.
