Katarina's POV
I kept watching everyone secretly without fighting any of them as I pretended not to see. They did not even bother to cover my eyes when they knew I could see nothing.
I used that opportunity to look around and master the trail so that I would be able to escape if the moment came for me to do so.
They would take me for granted and I would take that chance to escape. They had no idea that I was smarter than I actually looked.
I was dumped in the middle of the forest, untied as one of the men there drew a sword to kill me.
I panicked but didn't show it on my face as another one dropped from the carriage to hold him back.
"She's blind and in a forest known to kill people by releasing wild animals. She's a dead target. You might as well avoid getting blood on your hands as you leave nature to do its thing. Besides, let's stay awhile and get something to eat. I prefer rabbits. Let's hunt some for the road."
The man agreed, sheathing his sword before getting back on the carriage as they parked the carriage and wandered off to get some rabbits.
They saw me as nothing since I already had a disability and I would not be able to escape. I was seen as weak and seen as nothing. They knew I would not escape so I was stuck here.
As soon as they were gone, I used that opportunity to run through the bushes, quickening my pace when I discovered that I was being chased.
Shoot! They had found me.
I ran with everything in me as I knew what they would do if they actually found me. They would kill me themselves to avoid this mistake from happening again. Or they could cut off my legs so I would bleed out and die. Either way, it was not going to be a happy time for me. It would make my heart shatter.
As they closed in on me, I realized that the reality of them killing me and me getting trapped in this body would disappear forever. I would not also get to go back to my own time and my own body.
I wasn't going to let that happen
I had to get out of here if I knew what was good for me. And that was what I aimed at doing. I immediately increased my pace, running with everything in me as I ended up crashing into a man and without thinking I started to ask for him to save me from the threats behind me.
"Please save me," I pleaded with the man. "Please, don't leave me like that. They will kill me if they catch me. I don't want to die. Please."
He pushed me off him as he continued on his journey, but I was not going to give up easily. I looked behind me to hear them coming closer as they searched for me. My pride was less important than my soul disappearing due to this missions failure.
"Please," I held onto his arm as he looked at me with anger in his eyes. "Just help me already. I'm no threat. And you look like someone who can truly help me. Please."
I kept begging him until the people who had been looking for me showed up with their swords gleaming in the evening sun. They were really intent on killing me.
"Hey mister," one of the kidnappers said with a devilish smile. "She's ours. She's blind so she can't truly do anything on her own. That's why we're here to help her. She's our blind little sister who we've been searching for and we thank you for helping us find her. Now we'll take her from you and be on our way."
"And you all brought out swords to search for her?" The man I was clinging onto asked the men who shook their heads with nervous laughter.
"The swords are for dangerous and wild creatures. This place is filled with them. Since you are traveling through this route then you must definitely know about the dangers that live in this forest."
He was still talking when his partner nudged him and whispered something in his ear which had them looking closely at the man.
I was shocked when they bowed to the man I was holding onto.
"We are sorry my lord," they said in sync. "We had no idea you would be passing through this place."
I was confused at what they were doing until I looked at some of the inscriptions on his clothings which literally meant that he was royalty.
This meant I had finally met a royal man of the medieval times. I wondered if he was going to kill them for coming after a blind girl or if he would ask his guards to have their heads taken away.
I waited for him to say something but he did not as I laid back in my seat while watching the men ask for forgiveness from the man.
I was happy that this meant that I was saved.
Just when I could see my life flash before my eyes a solution had been gotten out and I was finally saved. This felt like such a miracle.
It was like the entire world and fate itself was working in my favor.
The man looked at me before looking at the other men who were bowing before him.
I wondered if he could tell that I was not blind or if he could see that I was still blind. Either way, I wanted to be saved and that was all I was waiting for. Him to get me out of here and maybe give me the happy ending Jane needed since that stupid betrothed warrior was nothing but a fake. I would even punish him before leaving this body. It would be epic.
