Sometimes when I got bored, I would imagine what death would feel like.
Would there be a heaven or a hell? Perhaps an endless void of nothingness?
Reincarnation perhaps, Where the mind lays to rest and the soul recycles itself through another life.
I never thought that when I died I would immediately find myself awake once more in the middle of a forest clearing.
I also look slightly younger, perhaps by four years or so.
Now I'm not fat or ugly by any means. I'm actually very tall and naturally skinny. My Grandfather even recommended I start playing Basketball to train my body.
But when you live 21 years of your life slowly growing taller little by little, you notice when you suddenly get shorter.
Now I'm still very tall, But 6 centimeters are noticeable when they disappear suddenly.
Checking my pockets, I'm shocked to find them empty.
No Wallet or Phone, Only a small red and white ball the size of those rubber bouncy balls you get from the machines outside of stores.
And with a closer look at the small ball, I notice a button. Thinking nothing of it, I click the button and-
"Holy Shit" I utter out loud as the small ball expands to fit into the palm of my hand.
And now that it's big enough to look at closely, I recognize the ball.
A Pokeball.
A device used by trainers in the Pokemon game series to catch the wonderful creatures known as Pokemon.
I try to open the Pokeball to see if anything is caught inside, but instead of a creature flying out of the ball in a flash of light, It opens up to showcase a hollow interior with unique technical work that I cannot be bothered to understand. So I pocket the ball.
Checking my other pockets, I pull out an ID Card that states I'm a trainer, So I should be allowed to capture pokemon with no problem.
It also states that my name is now simply Dishon, with no last name, my current Age is 17 and I live in a region called Paldea.
Never heard of it.
After checking my other pockets only to find them empty, I pocket the ID and start walking west, Toward the sunset, hoping to find some form of civilization.
--------------------------
And as I walked through the forest, I started thinking back to what I know about Pokemon.
I haven't played the last two generations, or the Sun and Moon remaster, Although I heard mixed reviews for all of them.
I did play the Lets Go games, specifically the Eevee once, So My knowledge of the Kanto region should be sharper than the rest, sadly I'm in a place called Paldea, and I have no knowledge of that region.
I do know that my favorite Pokemon was introduced in the Hoenn games, and I know that Cynthia has a lot of artwork about her, I know Pikachu isn't as competitively viable as the TV show wants you to believe, and I know that the world is always under threat of villainous organizations.
Villain groups that want to use the powers of the legendary pokemon on the box-art of the game in order to fulfill their evil plans.
With danger always on the horizon of which villain team will pop up next to disturb the peace.
That's where the protagonist comes in, The character you play in the games, going around fighting the gym to collect badges, only to have constant run ins with the villain team of the game, and only you are talented enough to bring them down!
Yeah, I'm not dealing with that.
And why should I? This is a brand new world, with supernatural creatures and breathtaking vistas to explore. I'm not going to be going around fighting baddies, I'll be too busy going around looking at everything.
I already have a course charted out for me, Once I'm done with Paldea I'll go to Johto, do Kanto after, before taking a trip to Alola, go visit Sinnoh, travel through Hoenn, and finish it off back where it all started, A Paldea rerun!
Maybe I'll go through Unova and Kalos if I feel like it later down the line, but it doesn't matter!
The World is my oyster, filled Beautiful sights and even prettier women.
This could be a wonderful adventure! No evil teams to deal with, no legendary monsters breathing on my back.
Only me, my Pokemon partners, and a wallet filled with cash.
Yes, It's all coming together.
And what a better team to have than a team full of Shiny Pokemon, They won't need to be competitively viable, they'll be pretty and beautiful instead.
"Yes, That right!" I say out loud as I look down at my pants pocket, the one holding the Pokeball.
My Pokemon team will be absolutely breathtaking in their beauty.
...
I still need to get out of this forest and find a source of Income.
Is making games a good Idea? I know that Cave Story was made by a single person, And I know how to write code.
It's not plagiarizing is it? The game doesn't exist in this world, right?
New Plan! Spend a few months remaking Cave Story and sell it on the game market, use the revenue I get from the game to fund my journey!
What a Foolproof plan, truly! My genius knows no bounds.
