Anticipation.
Perhaps trepidation.
Perhaps both. Waves of those very two emotions, not in the same amount and not in an equal distribution danced over Spheris and his companions. Stepping through the threshold felt like crossing into another realm entirely. They could feel the air shift, charged with an almost tangible energy that crackled in the spaces in between them.
Spheris beheld the place. The Gallied. The grandeur and scale of it was awe-inspiring. It was like a city of its own, a nation in fact! A bustling metropolis nestled within the insides of the three towering peaks.
He saw stone buildings used as demarcations like wood were used for shelves. The stones and their rough-hewn facades, divided the city into columns of spaces. In those spaces were bunk beds lined on the walls of the stone buildings, firelights dancing, tables and chairs. Those spaces were literal rooms made out of stone.
