The giant ants screeched louder and began to attack, speeding towards Spheris who was still cornered at the roots of some thorns.
"Shadow Shield!" Spheris commanded. The clang of metal rang in the air, encasing Spheris in its obsidian steel. The Knightbeasts slammed against the shield and a kinetic force recoiled them backwards.
Inside the [Shield], Spheris heard Obsidian's voice speak, it echoed now as he was encased in the darkness. 'Hiding, are we?'
'Talk less,' Spheris replied with his thoughts. Obsidian chuckled. Eventually, the reason for this move showed itself as [Nightfall Mantle] ran out of energy and dematerialized. If Spheris was outside when this had happened, his body would be pierced with a hundred thorns at this very moment.
Outside the [Shield], he could hear Talon cawing as he fought off the Knightbeasts who continued to scrap against the metal of the shield, trying to break through.
