Minutes after Kohan left, Spheris [Leaped] out of one of the shadows in the quietness of the evening.
He was in the Royal Infirmary.
The scent of antiseptic and herbs lingered in the air as he looked left and right. When he saw there was no one else with him, he walked further towards the sick bed of his ill mother.
"What did you bring this time?" Rya said with a smile once she noticed the presence of her son.
Spheris smiled back. His mother seemed much more lively. She was propped up on several pillows, her skin no longer the sickly pale it had been, the number of pores where blood leaked out had reduced.
There was color in her cheeks now, and when she turned her head to look at him, her eyes held a spark of life that had been absent for so long.
"Berry puffs," he answered her question. "A flagon of brael and siwi sauce."
Rya beamed. "I am lucky to have such a son."
