"Seems like it," Spheris said, glancing at the glass bottles and the dancing smoke of colors inside of them. He noticed the shapes of the Flasks, some much bigger and others much smaller than the rest.
They had carvings engraved onto them, symbols and runes, and in the Old Tongue there were descriptions beneath each Flask.
"A Mage staff!" a member of Myra's Brigade noticed.
Everyone turned to the deep corner of the room where a staff with a black orb on top rested. The Student Bearer walked to it, extending his hand to pick it up.
"If you don't want to burn from the inside out and die in the worst way possible, then you shouldn't pick that up," Spheris warned.
The boy paused, then glanced at Spheris. "Why?"
Spheris looked at the rest of the Bearers, expecting at least one of them to know the reason why touching a Mage's staff was fatally dangerous.
But they all had the same curious expressions on their faces.
