The car ride continued smoothly after the conversation we had with Erman. I still don't quite understand the purpose of that dialogue. It didn't seem like he was trying to comfort us; it was more like he was just stating the obvious.
My eyes followed the rapidly changing urban landscape outside. Even though we were in a limousine, the car was speeding down the road, leaving behind only blurred images. However, if I focused, I could see the scenery passing by in slow motion.
Honestly, this was the least I should be able to do. If I couldn't manage even that, I'd have become some random monster's snack a long time ago.
