At daybreak, I was the first one to wake up. Ellen, Noelle, and Ilya were still sleeping peacefully in their respective spots, trying to make the hard ground as comfortable as possible. Without beds, our rest depended on finding the best available spot. I got up silently and headed towards the small lake. There, I knelt down and began washing my face with the cold, refreshing water.
Additionally, I took the opportunity to taste the water. Unsure if our reserves would be enough for the three of us, considering we had no idea how much water we would need over time, I decided to try the lake water to see if it was drinkable.
As I put the water in my mouth, it had the expected taste of clean water, without any strange flavor or detectable impurities. While water itself doesn't have a distinct taste, it was reassuring to feel that this one seemed safe to drink.
