Chapter 6 - Chapter 6: The eccentric apothecary

There was a child who likes to cause mischief in the town. It was the grandson of the only apothecary in Huin Town so people although discontent with the child does not dare to complain him to the apothecary or even scold him.

However, Yuna who was thrown a stone by the kid out of nowhere while walking the market in a relax mood does not have any of it.

She grabs the child up, pull down his pants and slap his buttock harshly thrice.

The kids struggle and with a crying face threaten "…Ju..st you wait! I'm going to tell grandma!"

"Just you wait, I'm going to tell grandma" Yuna made a bad face and mockingly imitate the child. She has no psychological pressure in bullying a kid while she herself is an adult at soul.

Just because she is an adult doesn't mean she does not have her childish side as well.

The kid cried even more at Yuna mocking gesture and started running away towards the apothecary store to complain to his grandma whom everyone respect and don't dare to get on her bad side.

'See if she still dare to mock and beat me, i'll make her pay for beating me hmph!'

However, contrary to the kid expectation, his grandmother just claps her hand and said "Finally someone who dare to scold you, that's good. I'll let her look after you from now on"

"..Grandma!" The kid has a disbelieving expression as if founding hard to believe that he who was always pampered and spoiled by his parents is allowed to be beaten by his own grandma.

Although his grandma always have a cold face which make him a bit scared of her, she didn't particularly ever scold him after coming to a small town to live with his grandma.

The Huin town apothecary just look coldly at her grandson and said "You are spoiled and doesn't know manner, you're parent send you here so that I can educate you, if not because I want to focus on potion making, you will be educated long ago. The town people are wimp who doesn't even dare to scold you" If they didn't dare to complain, then she will not address their little grievance either. Well, she has her own peculiar way of conducting her life and way of thinking.

All in all, the grandma is an eccentric person in her own way.

"Go call the girl, I'd like to talk to her"

The apothecary gave order.

The child lip tremble, on the verge of crying but still very scared of the mean looking grandma. The kid is after all someone who bully the weak and fear the strong.

"Go quick"

And just like that, Yuna stood before the apothecary acting calm and poised without showing any of her inside nervousness.

Aiss… it is her temper that always gets the best of her.

Let whatever storm may come, Yuna could only grit her teeth and receive it. If the apothecary don't want to sell potion to them, she'll just have to train herself hard to learn healing spells and work to the bone like her classmate did.

Although she didn't regret her action, she still cannot wrong her grandfather who will need treatment if he later contract an ailment ah…

"Its winter vacation and during this time, if you can look after the kid, I can let you borrow books on elementals. The high grade one that discuss the in depth on elemental which you cannot casually buy even if you want to"

The apothecary state calmly.

"Ahh…."

Yuna have a stupid expression, trying her best to understand what she heard which is completely different from her expectation.

After catching on the word, Yuna is about to answer the apothecary that she was very willing because elemental book can really not be bought casually even if one have the money ah…

Even if she has money, it's not available for sale.

How many elementalist clamours to get their hand on the book which is infamous for being rare and hard to obtain? Yuna have enough of hearing it from her teacher who always boast about even of that one page he get a chance to read.

DING—

Just then, the door of the apothecary store opens.

It was the main character.

Yuna who was about to answer the apothecary sigh.

Austin a bit surprised at finding Yuna at the apothecary store gave a small smile at Yuna. He tug the warm coat which Yuna insist is her grandfather old winter coat they plan on throwing away. She said old but it still look and feel new and good.

Although big, Austin feels warmer in the chilling winter.

The girl looks cold and indifferent on the outside but actually have a very precious tender heart.

"Yuna, are you not feeling well?" Austin questioned seeing her inside an apothecary store.

Yuna shake her head "Just coming to do business"

"That's good, you should take care of yourself to not get sick" He said and gave another light smile.

And that light smile became another catalyst of jealousy at school.

He accepted only Yuna lunch and he only ever smile to Yuna.

What the student don't understand is that Austin accepted the lunch box because it was Yuna kind heart without any string attached while those female students want to have an ambiguous relationship with him.

Not that he look down on them but he is an adult and it is uncomfortable for him to be the receiving end of a little girl affections.

Yuna just nod her head at Austin and watch quietly as he bought a medicine for his mother.

After he left, Yuna gave another sigh.

Is this a coincidence?

Yuna recall a certain post she read in her past life

<"Well, look who I ran into," crowed coincidence.

"Please," flirted Fate, "this was meant to be.">

'Hah…'

'Count that dog lucky, coincidence or fate, I'll only let myself lose out just this once' although the thing she lose out is a bit too big….

But life is what matters the most. Yuna console herself.

In her past life, she did an MBTI test and one of the question was 'You are willing to give up a good opportunity if you believe someone else needs it more' and what was her answer back then? Of course it is 'strongly disagree' and even snorted contemptuously to her brother who choose 'agree'

Look at then and look at now, she is slapping her own face and it stung.

"The boy who just left, I won't ask for more, can you please teach me how to make just that kind of potion?"

The apothecary looked at the little girl, checking her up and down as if seeing an interesting creature. Her old and muddy eyes reflected a meaningful light.

"Unless you enter the capital academy when you reach thirteen or fourteen and Excel in academic performance, you will not have the chance to read the book again. I won't give you an opportunity again. From a small town like this, it will be extremely hard to get a chance to enter the capital academy"

"Umm…. I would still like to learn how to make the potion"

'Just say yes quickly granny, I'm on the verge of changing my mind!'

Yuna, who was wavering at her hard decision scream internally.

"Ho… very well, come tomorrow to look after the kid, I'll teach you when appropriate time arrive" The apothecary dismissed Yuna, not bothering to persuade on the great chance she lose out.

It was none of her business if people want to act a good Samaritan and place other needs before theirs.

"Okay"

Yuna agreed sadly.

Still, when she got reminded of the plotline in the novel where the grandma apothecary leave the town and a new apothecary came who was not able to make the kind of potion Austin mother require and his despair of watching his mother relapse in pain and getting weaker and weaker, Yuna could only harden her heart and try to ignore her regret.

A readers are always soft to pitiful characters.

How hard can it be taking care of a naughty kid?

Yuna used tactically the carrot and stick method to take care of a bear child. Her stick was slapping his butt and her carrot was her delicious cake.

The child became obedient after only a week. Kids are still in their worldview reformation stage, so, they are easily influenced.

His parent must've gone out often and leave him in the care of the nanny. Of course, some neglected kid will cause mischief to attract the attention of their parent.

The kid although rebellious is not bad at heart.
