Chereads / The Immortal in Star Wars / Chapter 9 - Lehon

Chapter 9 - Lehon

Lehon was a tropical world in a remote and relatively unknown corner of the galaxy known as the Tempered Wastes, a largely void area of space. Its surface was largely covered by oceans dotted by numerous clusters of islands and archipelagos. It was the only habitable planet in the Lehon system, but it shared an orbit around its primary star with the Star Forge, an ancient Rakatan space station and factory which drew its fuel directly from the system's primary star. The planet itself was orbited by two small moons, but one of them was close enough to be visible from the surface during daylight, covering a significant portion of the sky.

Lehon was also the home planet from where the Rakata originated from.

In appearance, Rakata are smooth-skinned amphibian-like humanoids that have tall craniums along with eyes that protrude from each side of their heads on short stalks. These bipedal beings have three-digit hands that are tipped with claws for digging through packed dirt. As a species, they are uniformly lean and close to the same height.

As an Outsider, I have some difficulty in distinguishing between individual Rakata although females tend to have a more slender build. The dentition of Rakata, consisting of a multitude of sharp teeth, reflects the carnivorous habits of the members of this species, even known for eating members of sentient species, including other Rakata.

I exit hyperspace and arrive above the blue planet Lehon. I activate some probes, I have created along my way, to deploy and gather as much information as they can. I know a bit about Lehon and the Rakata from Star Wars Legends but it seems that things are different from what I know, at least partially.

.

I wait for the probes to come back and while I wait, I meditate on what it is that the Force would consider interesting for me. And what I pick up is indeed interesting. The Rakata are Force-sensitive and as it so happens ... they aren't the only ones. I feel another strong connection to the Force on the planet. This could mean one of two things. Either, the planet is a nexus in the Force or ... there is another species living on Lehon, who is also Force-sensitive.

Finally, the probes return after two days of absence. All the recordings are uploaded to the main computer and I watch what they see using the big screens. I corrected false information, I read about them in my past life and added new things, I didn't know about the Rakata and their biology and habits.

Skin tones amongst the Rakata kind tend to be grey or grey-brown. Almost all Rakata have grey or reddish-grey skin, though this is a trait of the dominant lineage of those that survived the ancient plague that would thin their numbers, in the future. There are rare specimen breeds which include the blue-skinned Droot, red-striped Ikalik, and black Bukesek. The Rakata were originally a Force-sensitive species, though they became blind to the Force as a result of a plague that would afflict their race in the future. But right now, they are all Force-sensitive.

And now for the other species. I was right, there is another species located on the planet. And this one is one that is still a mystery, even in my past life.

.

The species includes the male and female genders. Members of the species are small in size, roughly comparable to that of a human child, with green skin, large eyes, and long pointed ears. Their three-fingered hands end in claws. One member of the species, a probe observed, caught and devoured live amphibians whole, while another member, made rootleaf stews. Their ears are expressive, curling, and unfurling which, I assume, follows their emotions.

It is the species that the future Grand Master of the Jedi belongs to, Yoda. I found them long before the start of the canon story starts.

Members of the species are capable of growing thin hair, with shades varying from auburn to white being documented, with females having longer and thicker hair than males. The species have a very long life expectancy, spanning at least several centuries; Yoda lived nearly a thousand years before dying of old age, and they age very slowly, remaining in infancy for at least fifty standard years.

Even at this stage of life, certain Force-sensitive individuals of this species may use Force powers such as telekinesis and Force healing soon. I can see their talent and the situation on Lehon, forces them to adapt. They will probably start to use the Force as a means of self-defence or healing soon.

They are also capable of complex thought processes and can probably not understand speech and communicate via the Force at this age. Despite their slow ageing for the first five decades of life, members of the species reach maturity by their hundredth year, as exemplified by the Jedi Yoda, who began training other Jedi when he was about one hundred years old. According to Yaddle, Yoda was considered to be middle-aged at 514.

.

Now the situation on Lehon is anything but good for the Zenorians, as I just named them. The Rakata are a very violent and destructive species. They eat their own who are weak and in the future, they will create their own Empire, the Infinite Empire. And right now, they are 'sharing' their planet, Lehon with the Zenorians which they don't like. It couldn't have been long, since both of these species have evolved to their current stage. If it was long, then the Rakata would have already caused the Zenorians to go extinct.

Many years before 36,453 BBY, the Kwa - a Force-sensitive reptilian species from the planet Dathomir - arrived on Lehon, the homeworld of the Rakata species, via their Infinity Gate technology that allowed the Kwa to travel instantaneously across the galaxy.

As they had done on many worlds before, the Kwa became the Rakata's benefactors, teaching them about the Force and giving them advanced technology. Around this time, the Celestials themselves, the backers of the Kwa and then the dominant galactic power, also made the Rakata one of their slave races.

However, the Kwa were horrified to realize that Rakata were a cannibalistic race that ignored the Kwa teachings of balance, drawing only on the dark side of the Force. Pairing their aggression and desire for conquest with the Kwa technology, the Rakata would expand out from Lehon and begin to conquer other worlds in the Unknown Regions. The establishment of their Infinite Empire was centred on their homeworld of Lehon, and they used Force-based hyperdrives to travel to worlds with strong Force signatures.

.

I am faced with a decision. Either I let things take their course and then allow the future to stay the way it was or ... ah who am I kidding, I already know what I will do. I leave the command deck and go towards the hangar, where I have stored smaller ships I have created.

[Picture]

I board the ship and fire it up. First I will make contact with the Zenorians and we'll see where we'll go from there. This much smaller spaceship focuses more on speed. I still focused on defence and a bit on armament, but there was not really anything else. There is a big area for comfort, but that is it. Everything else has to either be done on another ship or on the Explorer.

I descend to the hideouts of the Zenorians. Arriving there, I am met with fear at first. But not as much as I would expect. I can tell that the Zenorians are rather calm and peaceful people and they truly act like that. I exit the ship and use the Force first and foremost. I use the Force to communicate with them and transmit my feelings and thoughts to them.

This surprises them and they calm down a lot. So now starts the 'getting to know' period. I have done this many times already with different species and every species reacts differently to me. Some are friendly, others are hostile and attack me immediately and others like the Zenorians are calm and collected and approach me with caution.

"I come in peace. Don't worry about me. I wish you no harm.", I transmit through the Force. They understand and transmit their own thoughts to me.

'Who, you are?'

'Where from, you come?'

'What kind of lifeform, are you?'

'Spirit, how use you to communicate with us so well?'

'Intentions, what are yours?'

I am bombarded with tons of questions. But the gist of it is clear. They want to know who I am and what my intentions are and apparently, they call the Force 'the spirit'. So they believe that the fact taht they can communicate with each other telepathically is a biological advantage of theirs. They don't realise that they are using the Force.

So I begin to explain to them who I am, where I come from and what my purpose for coming here is.

"I have felt a disturbance here and was told by the Force, that's what you call 'spirit', that I should come here.", I tell them.

'What is the Force, hm?'

"The Force is a mystical and powerful energy field that exists within all living things and everywhere in the Universe. It is what allows us to communicate through thoughts.", I explain to them.

'What is that, hm, which used you to come here?', one of them asks and points at my spaceship.

"That is called a spaceship. It can be used to reach from one point to another and travel across the stars. I used it to come from my mobile home, which is up there, to here.", I tell them and point to the sky, where the Explorer is located.

.

As time passes and I answer all of their questions, they slowly start to calm down more and more. I am even invited to eat with them and stay the night. I am offered raw fish and of course ... eat it without a problem. I have been to different races, although all of them humanoid, in the past. So eating raw fish is nothing to me after millennia of being alive.

I came to learn of their culture and it became apparent that offering food to strangers was considered proper. The problem was that they didn't have much food to give out, so this gesture was even more meaningful. I appreciated their hospitality.

They told me about their species, their customs, their history, what they believed in, and what they did the entire day and I came to understand that they were suffering due to the war which was going on between them and the Rakata. Although calling it a war is wrong. The Rakata were hunting and eating them because they didn't want to share the planet with anyone, while the Zenorians were hiding and trying to survive.

I spent a long time together with them, listening. Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, I have become the best listener there will ever be. Many years have I been listening to the Force and I am still doing it. I listened to the Zanorian's dreams, their fears and their thoughts. I didn't say anything for a long time and when they were finished, I offered to help them.

"I can help you.", I transmitted to them.

'With what, you can help us?'

"With anything. I can help you win this war with the Rakata. I can help you get more food, I can heal those who are sick or have wounds, I can even get you away from here and bring you to a new planet without any strife and conflict if that is your wish."

The Zenorians didn't accept my proposition for relocation at the start. But they were very thankful for my help with the lack of food and my healing powers. I used 'Plant Surge' to make plants grow faster and stronger, this in turn created more algae and that increased the fish population, giving the Zenorians enough to eat.

I slowly became one of them. They didn't see me as an outsider but as a friend. But then, the Rakata thought they didn't like someone else helping their 'mortal enemies' and did something about that.
