The room full of people devoured the watermelon, quickly finishing off what was in the basin, before they had the chance to lay their claws on the water chestnuts nearby.
Fortunately, these things had shells, which added a couple more steps to the eating process, so everyone's stomachs didn't become too full all at once.
Even so, during a gap in cooking, Seventh Uncle came to the living room to collect his favorite large basin, only to see the trash can nearly overflowing with water chestnut shells and watermelon rinds.
He couldn't help but stop in his tracks, "You're eating so much now, should I make less for lunch later?"
Mentioning lunch, everyone's spirits were lifted again.
But spirits aside, their bellies wouldn't admit it! At that moment, looking at the water chestnuts in their hands, they both wanted to eat more and resented that they took up stomach space—it was a real dilemma!
