The allure of tobacco is boundless.
Two old men were busy with firewood and coal, stoking the fire to make it roar, eager to dry out the room as quickly as possible before placing their precious tobacco leaves inside.
Before summer even started, they managed to get everyone in the courtyard drenched in sweat, creating quite a commotion.
Yet Seventh Uncle, always striving for perfection, would occasionally enter the room to feel, "Still a bit damp, let's bake it a little more."
To ensure the tobacco leaves achieved the best results, even the tender leaves picked from the top couldn't be treated carelessly by Song Youde, who just added two more pieces of firewood.
Song Tan wandered back and forth, feeling that the empty house just didn't seem right, and finally suggested:
"Why not... since that room is empty anyway, let's smoke some sausages and hang some smoked meat. If that's not enough, Seventh Uncle, perhaps hang a couple of roast ducks and a few strips of crispy pork belly?"
